Lionel Logue was an Australian speech therapist who helped King George VI reduce his stammer using unconventional techniques. This allowed the King to effectively rally the British people during World War II. Logue's treatment of the King was not widely known until the 2010 film The King's Speech brought attention to Logue's work. Logue's family did not discuss his royal service even amongst themselves until after the film was released.
