The Early Years In 1952, A.S. Douglas writes a version of Tic-Tac Toe for the EDSAC.                                                                   [1]
In 1958, William Higinbotham creates a basic form of electronic tennis.                                                                         [2] The Early Years
In 1962, Steve Russell creates Spacewar! 			                                                    [3]  The Early Years
In 1970, Magnavox signs a deal with Ralph Baer to develop the Odyssey.  Nolan Bushnell begins to develop Computer Space, which is a free-standing version of Spacewar! That people would pay to play. 							[4] The Early Years
The Golden Age In 1971, Nolan completed his project and sold his free-standing version of Spacewar! 									    [5]
The Modern Age In 1980, Namco introduces Pac-Man to the arcades. 					        [6]
In 1982, Sega creates the 3D isometric shooter Zaxxon and inflicts it upon the gaming public.  			        [7] The Modern Age
							    [7] In 1989, Maxis brings Will Wright's vision of simple simulation strategy to the people in the form of SimCity.  The Modern Age
Toward the end of 1993, Cyan releases one of the most popular video games of all time – Myst. 						    [9] The Modern Age
In February of 2000 Maxis releases what is to be the best selling computer game to date. The Sims takes the throne from Myst as it sells more than 16 million copies and is translated into over 17 languages.  					     [10] The Modern Age

Role Playing Then - Dungeon Master  1987 Now – Valkyria Chronicles 2 2011                         [17/16] Games Of Today
Strategy Then – Stonkers 1983 Now – Shogun 2: Total War 2011 							[21/16] Games Of Today
Vehicle Simulation Then – Night Driver 1976 Now – Gran Turismo 5 2011 								  [13/16] Games Of Today

Conclusion In Conclusion, video games have changed over the years.  From a simple game of bouncing a ball from side to side on a black and white screen to being able to see the sweat coming from your characters face.
