2. At the first shot we are able to see an establishing shot to show
the whole front of the house. It is also a main concept of
Thriller’s to show the whole environment.

Another camera technique that is used is a close up of the
person’s shoe whilst he is riding the bike. This adds a sense of
wonder because the audience may question where is the person
going using his bike.

4. This is a prop. The rocking adds a sense of mystery as this could
lead to the audience wondering why there is a black chair in a
white room.

The use of a hoody as a prop also gives the sense of mystery and
curiosity because this could make the audience wonder why his
face is hidden so they cannot see his face.

The use of the box as a prop is very significant. This makes the audience
curious as well because they are wondering what is inside the box and
what it has to do with the film.

use of sound in The Hand that Rocks the
Cradle is significant as well. This is because
at the beginning, the music is calm and
shows a civilised environment. This is shown
by when you hear bells and flutes. It all
sounds harmonious. But as it gets to the end
of the opening, violins start to be played and
the calm feeling disappears and a more tense
environment comes. The sound becomes
dissonant.

This is an example of fading out. This is after the opening credits
occur. The screen fades out and turns black then cuts to the front
of the house.

This is an example of a cut. This is used to show the
audience the different rooms and places that are inside
the house.
