up inside from too many babies and stress, butlistening with her soul for the baby crying.
She is worried he, the boy,might need her as the girl will be all right. She can cry they tell
her tolet the girl cry, and pick up the boy.This is womens grief that I articulate, as it starts
at birth while wehave no one to love us when we cry, all too often. Many times we

couchCracking up inside from too many babies and stressbut listening with her soul for
the baby cryingWorried he, the boy, might need herwhile the girlwill be all right she can
crythey tell her to let the girl cryShe knows without hearing if her little girl criesBut she
is too worried inside to do this for the boyLosing her spiritual gifts because they always
criticizeher for the boy she worries constantlyshe will make a mistake or drop him the
boy babyshe is only ten or eight years old still
3. 3. or she is fifty years old or even 28and is terrified she will drop the boy babyAlthough
she is told to let the baby girl cryNot realizing she, the mother, is absentalmost dead
inside and is missing to everyoneShe can no longer hear either the boy or the girllaugh or
cryNo matter how hard she tries criesWhile her husband criticizes her for not beingA
good motherAnd someone asks her why she has a goofy smileOn her faceWhich is really
the Smile of Abusethat she can only smileShe cries tears no longer availableAnd tries to
smile a better smile at her husbandOr her fatherOr her son

noticingBending over to hug her in her smoothcotton dress with delicate flowersSmelling
fresh young and hopefulSmiling quickly not making a fussSo no one will notice her
loveFor her motherthat she can no longer call her ownas she is dispossessed, tooand
cannot say the word Motherany longer they told herShe prays she will be strong like her
motherAnd live to raise all her childrenAs she was told that is all the girl can expectIn

God they told herjust to raise her childrenand accept thisbeing a good motheris the
highest calling they told herto accept thisshe will never see Godexcept through her
husband’s wordsher only role is as a motherher duties and functions belong to her
