STARTED
★In 1987,Innscor Africa Limited
opened its first Chicken Inn outlet
at Speke Avenue in Harare.
★Founded by Zed Koudounaris and
Derrick Fowler, Chicken Inn has
since become the biggest fast food
business in the country.
3. ★In 1998, Innscor listed on the
Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE),
utilising the Quick Service
Restaurant (QSR) business to
spread its footprint into Africa
as a diverse Pan-African
operation.
★In the process, QSR outlets
were opened in Zambia, Kenya and
Swaziland.

has grown to own and franchise
outlets all across Africa.
★Simbisa Brands has outlets in
Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya,
Democratic Republic of Congo,

6. UNBUNDLING
5 August 2015
Simbisa was
incorporated as a
wholly owned
subsidiary of
Innscor.
1 October 2015
Simbisa acquired, through a
scheme of reconstruction,
all the assets and
liabilities of the QSR
Business from Innscor.
6 November 2015
Simbisa listed
on the Zimbabwe
Stock Exchange
(ZSE).

company is the strategy and well thought out location of
its outlets.
★Simbisa stores are found along busy track routes, on
major highways, in central business districts, in urban
areas as well as food courts.

Plumtree or Chirundu. Or the tourists visiting Victoria
Falls, Chinhoyi Caves or the Eastern Highlands.

Property Rights of the brands
within its portfolio, but also
owner-operates the outlets of the
QSR brands.
★Simbisa owns the master license
to other successful brands such as
Galito’sAfrica, Nando’s, Steers,
Rocomamas, Ocean Basket, Vida E
Caffe, Spur and Grill Shack.

for Zimbabwe only, Rocomamas is
for Zimbabwe, Zambia and Ghana,
Vida E Caffe is for Zambia,
Mauritius and Ghana and lastly
Grill Shack for Kenya.

The business has expanded over the years, with the
addition of new brands such as Haefelis, Ocean
Basket and RocoMamas among others, and has grown
to own and franchise outlets all across Africa.
