Chapter 10 crafting the brand positioningBelinda Ella
The document discusses how to craft an effective brand positioning strategy. It defines positioning as designing an offering and image to occupy a distinctive place in a target market's mind. A good strategy identifies competitors, analyzes their strengths and weaknesses, and determines the brand's points of parity (shared associations) and points of difference (unique attributes). An effective brand mantra or slogan articulates the brand's heart and soul in 3-5 words. The document uses Coca-Cola as an example, noting its differentiation in taste profile and optimistic view of life while sharing refreshment and contemporary qualities with rivals. It stresses the importance of being different and unique for brands.
The document discusses organizational buying processes and situations. It describes the typical steps in an organizational buying process as problem recognition, need description, specifications, supplier search, proposal analysis, selection, order routine, and performance review. There are three common buying situations: new tasks which require extensive research; modified rebuys where alternatives are reevaluated; and straight rebuys which are recurring needs. The document also discusses factors that influence organizational buying behavior like environmental forces, organizational forces, group forces, and individual forces.
This document describes a binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) modulation circuit using a CD4016 analog switch integrated circuit. In BPSK, the phase of a carrier wave is shifted by 180 degrees to represent a 1 and unchanged to represent a 0. The circuit uses a CD4016 to switch the phase of a sine wave based on an input binary signal. An op-amp inverts the sine wave and the CD4016 switches between the normal and inverted sine wave based on the binary input. The output provides the BPSK modulated signal.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
