Health Policy Issue Paper Instructions
The Health Policy Issue Paper needs to address a state or federal bill/policy that has been introduced but not yet passed, or one that exists and is in need of revision OR elimination. You may find that another state has a health policy or bill that you think needs to be passed in your state; OR you may propose a new policy/bill that you believe needs to be introduced.
The paper is to be written incurrent APA Format. You are encouraged to submit an ungraded draft of the paper in SafeAssign for personal review and edits prior to your final submission. You must include headings and subheadings based on objectives discussed below. You are encouraged to post questions about this assignment in the “Ask the Professor” Discussion Board Forum. Be careful to clearly and thoroughly cite your paper. A good rule of thumb is to cite at least every paragraph or two. Avoid overuse of direct quotations and include page numbers with direct quotes only.
For the background/significance section of the paper, avoid over-reliance on web-based information. Published articles are preferred. Also, do not cite wikipedia.com, since this is not an academic source; information is abstracted and not checked for accuracy.
For this paper, page 1 is the title page, page 2 is an abstract, and page 3 begins the body of the paper (the abstract is just a brief summary of the main purpose of the paper and general findings/recommendations). Health Policy Issue Paper Instructions
The Health Policy Issue Paper needs to address a state or federal bill/policy that has been introduced but not yet passed, or one that exists and is in need of revision OR elimination. You may find that another state has a health policy or bill that you think needs to be passed in your state; OR you may propose a new policy/bill that you believe needs to be introduced.
The paper is to be written incurrent APA Format. You are encouraged to submit an ungraded draft of the paper in SafeAssign for personal review and edits prior to your final submission. You must include headings and subheadings based on objectives discussed below. You are encouraged to post questions about this assignment in the “Ask the Professor” Discussion Board Forum. Be careful to clearly and thoroughly cite your paper. A good rule of thumb is to cite at least every paragraph or two. Avoid overuse of direct quotations and include page numbers with direct quotes only.
For the background/significance section of the paper, avoid over-reliance on web-based information. Published articles are preferred. Also, do not cite wikipedia.com, since this is not an academic source; information is abstracted and not checked for accuracy.
For this paper, page 1 is the title page, page 2 is an abstract, and page 3 begins the body of the paper (the abstract is just a brief summary of the main purpose of the paper and general findings/recommendations). You are wrong to believe that a new kitchen will make you happy for as long as you imagine. You are wrong to think that you will be more unhappy with a big single setback (a broken wrist, a broken heart) than with a lesser chronic one (a trick knee, a tense marriage). You are wrong to assume that job failure will be crushing. You are wrong to expect that a death in the family will leave you bereft for year upon year, forever and ever. You are even wrong to reckon that a cheeseburger you order in a restaurant -- this week, next week, a year from now, it doesn't really matter when -- will definitely hit the spot. That's because when it comes to predicting exactly how you will feel in the future, you are most likely wrong.
A professor in Harvard's department of psychology, Gilbert likes to tell people that he studies happiness. But it would be more precise to say that Gilbert -- along with the psychologist Tim Wilson of the University of Virginia, the economist George Loewenstein of Carnegie-Mellon and the psychologist (and Nobel laureate in economics) Daniel Kahneman of Princeton -- has taken the lead in studying a specific type of emotional and behavioral prediction. In the past few years, these four men have begun to question the decision-making process that shapes our sense of well-being: how do we predict what will make us happy or unhappy -- and then how do we feel after the actual experience? For example, how do we suppose we'll feel if our favorite college football team wins or loses, and then how do we really feel a few days after the game? How do we predict we'll feel about purchasing jewelry, having children, buying a big house or being rich? And then how do we regard the outcomes? According to this small corps of academics, almost all actions -- the decision to buy jewelry, have kids, buy the big house or work exhaustively for a fatter paycheck -- are based on our predictions of the emotional consequences of these events.
Until recently, this was uncharted territory. How we forecast our feelings, and whether those predictions match our future emotional states, had never been the stuff of laboratory research. But in scores of experiments, Gilbert, Wilson, Kahneman and Loewenstein have made a slew of observations and conclusions that undermine a number of fundamental assumptions: namely, that we humans understand what we want and are adept at improving our well-being -- that we are good at maximizing our utility, in the jargon of traditional economics. The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.

- 1. The formal process of amending the Constitution is cumbersome and slow. While this fact explains why relatively few amendments have been adopted, it does not discourage advocates of constitutional change from proposing them. Four amendment proposals that have gained considerable attention are the Balanced Budget Amendment, the Birthright Citizenship Amendment, the Equal Rights Amendment, and the Overturn Citizens United Amendment. Select one of these proposals as the topic of your initial post and use the assigned resources to inform yourself about its purpose and the arguments of its supporters and critics. Before writing your initial post, review the assigned resources . In your initial post of at least 200-250 words, briefly summarize what the proposed amendment would do and the problem its proponents say it will solve. Explain the main pros and cons in the debate about the amendment. Evaluate the proposed amendment from two perspectives: Your own political philosophy, values or ideology. (Justify your assessment by clearly explaining your political values and why they lead you to support or oppose the amendment.) The likelihood that the proposed amendment will eventually be ratified to become part of the Constitution. (Justify your assessment by explaining how the proposal will or will not, in your judgment, survive the ratification process.) Fully respond to all parts of the question. Write in your own words. Support your position with APA citations to two or more of the assigned resources required for this discussion. Please be sure that you demonstrate understanding of these resources, integrate them into your argument, and cite them properly.
