A JavaScript library for building fast and interactive interfaces for mobile and web applications, React is built for web and mobile development.A front-end component-based library that only handles the application's view layer.
ReactJS is a component-based library (not a framework!!) which is used to develop interactive UI’s. Currently, it is the most popular front-end JavaScript library. It deals with View in the MVC (Model - View - Controller). So, if you are dealing with the applications where data keeps on changing in real time, you should go for React.

Staying ahead in today's competitive time is not just an advantage but a necessity. One technology that has consistently proven its prowess in creating dynamic and interactive user interfaces is ReactJS.
React.js, commonly referred to as React, is a popular JavaScript library for building user interfaces, particularly for single-page applications where user interactions are dynamic and frequent. Developed and maintained by Facebook, React allows developers to create reusable UI components that update efficiently in response to changes in data. Here are some key concepts and features associated with React:
Component-Based Architecture:
React is based on a component-based architecture, where the UI is broken down into independent, reusable components. Components can be composed together to create complex user interfaces.
Virtual DOM:
React uses a virtual DOM (Document Object Model) to optimize the rendering process. Instead of directly manipulating the actual DOM, React creates a virtual representation of it in memory and updates only the parts that have changed. This minimizes the number of updates to the real DOM, making the application more efficient.
JSX (JavaScript XML):
React uses JSX, a syntax extension for JavaScript that allows you to write HTML-like code within your JavaScript files. JSX makes it easier to visualize and work with the component structure.
jsx
Copy code
const element = <h1>Hello, React!</h1>;
Unidirectional Data Flow:
React follows a unidirectional data flow, meaning that data in an application flows in a single direction, from parent to child components. This helps maintain a predictable state and simplifies the debugging process.
State and Props:
React components can have state, which represents the internal data of a component. Props (short for properties) are used to pass data from a parent component to a child component. Changes in state trigger component updates, and props help to make components dynamic and configurable.
Lifecycle Methods:
React components have lifecycle methods that allow developers to perform actions at different stages of a component's existence, such as when it is created, updated, or destroyed.
Hooks:
Introduced in React 16.8, hooks are functions that allow functional components to manage state and side effects. They provide a way to use state and other React features in functional components without the need for class components.
jsx
Copy code
import { useState } from 'react';
function ExampleComponent() {
const [count, setCount] = useState(0);
return (
<div>
<p>You clicked {count} times</p>
<button onClick={() => setCount(count + 1)}>
Click me
</button>
</div>
);
}
React Router:
React Router is a popular library for handling navigation in React applications. It allows you to create a single-page application with multiple views by managing the URL and rendering the appropriate components based on the current route.
React has a vibrant ecosystem and is often used in conjunction with other libraries and tools, such as Redux for state management, Axios for data fetching, and webpack for bundling. It is widely adopted in the web development comm.

In the context of React, “components” refer to reusable, self-contained building blocks that encapsulate a part of a user interface (UI) and its logic. React is a JavaScript library for building user interfaces, and its component-based architecture makes it easier to manage and scale complex UIs. React components can be thought of as custom, reusable HTML elements with associated JavaScript logic. React components enable a modular and maintainable approach to building UIs, as they can be composed and reused throughout the application. The component-based structure of React promotes a clear separation of concerns and facilitates the development and maintenance of large-scale applications.

What is PostgreSQL?
The PostgreSQL database system is an advanced, enterprise-class, and open-source relational database system.In addition to SQL, PostgreSQL supports JSON querying as well as non-relational queries.
What Makes PostgreSQL Stand Out?
PostgreSQL is the first database management system that implements multi-version concurrency control (MVCC) feature, even before Oracle.
PostgreSQL is a general-purpose object-relational database management system. It allows us to add custom functions developed using different programming languages such as C/C++, Java, etc.
Procedural Languages Support
PostgreSQL supports four standard procedural languages, which allows the users to write their own code in any of the languages and it can be executed by PostgreSQL database server.
DDL - data definition language
Data definition language (DDL) is used the following commands:
Data type declaration
CREATE - creates a new database, table, index or procedure.
ALTER - modifies an existing database object.
DROP - deletes an existing database, table, index or procedure.
TRUNCATE TABLE - empties a table for reuse.
DML - data manipulation language
Data manipulation language is used to work with tables and their contents as in:
INSERT - inserts new rows in a table.
UPDATE - updates existing rows in the table.
DELETE - deletes rows from a table.
SELECT - the main method for querying data from the database.
Advantages of PostgreSQL
Below are the main advantages/benefits of PostgreSQL:
PostgreSQL can run dynamic websites and web apps as a LAMP stack option.
PostgreSQL’s write-ahead logging makes it a highly fault-tolerant database.
PostgreSQL source code is freely available under an open source license.
Low maintenance and administration for both embedded and enterprise use of PostgreSQL.
Disadvantages of PostgreSQL
Below are the disadvantages/limitations of PostgreSQL:
Postgres is not owned by one organization. So, it has had trouble getting its name out there despite being fully featured and comparable to other DBMS systems
Changes made for speed improvement requires more work than MySQL as PostgreSQL focuses on compatibility
Many open source apps support MySQL, but may not support PostgreSQL
On performance metrics, it is slower than MySQL.
Python is a widely-used, interpreted, object-oriented, and high-level programming language with dynamic semantics, used for general-purpose programming. It was created by Guido van Rossum, and first released on February 20, 1991.

Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?
How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.
Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

2. React is a JavaScript library created for building fast
and interactive user
interfaces for web and mobile applications. It is an
open-source,
component-based, front-end library responsible only
for the application’s
view layer. In Model View Controller (MVC)
architecture, the view layer is
responsible for how the app looks and feels. React
was created by Jordan
Walke, a software engineer at Facebook.
What is React
3. Let us look at the essential and most demanding features :
1. JSX: JSX means JavaScript XML. It is an extension of JS
language syntax. It provides a way to render components using a
syntax similar to HTML.
2. Virtual Document Object Model:React make an in-memory data
structure cache, then it computes the difference
between the previous DOM and the new one and then updates
the changes or
mutations performed.
3. Testability: React views are used as the state’s functions where
the state determines the
behavior of the component. Therefore we can make changes to
the state and then
pass it to a view the ReactJS and then determine the output.
Features of React
4. 4. SSR:It permits to pre-render the initial state of the
components at the server-side. The browser can
render without waiting for all the JavaScript to be
executed or loaded. This makes web pages to load
faster.
5. One Way Data Binding:It allows one-way flow of data, i.e.
one-way data
binding. Due to this feature, there is better control
over the application.
6. Simplicity:JSX files make the application simple and
understandable. Standard JavaScript can be used
to code, but the usage of JSX makes it easier.
7. Learning Curve:In comparison to other frameworks, the
learning
curve of React is low. Beginners having basic
programming language can also learn to React easily.
5. SEO friendly
It is easy to create test cases for UI.
React Components can be reused
easily.
Ensures faster rendering.
Debugging is easy.
Ease of Migration.
Enhances productivity.
Writing components is easy.
Stable code.
Has a helpful developer toolset.
Advantages
6. Disadvantages
The high pace of development.
Poor documentation.
Additional SEO hassle.
View-oriented only.
Large size library.
The learning curve for beginners.
Requires manual processing of
data changes.
I need more code in some
cases.
