The Byzantine defenders in Constantinople numbered less than 9,000 men relying on outdated static defenses and weapons, facing an invading Ottoman army of over 80,000 troops led by Sultan Mehmet II that had adopted new gunpowder technology. Despite previous successes using Greek Fire, the numerically and technologically inferior Byzantine forces under Emperor Constantine XI were overwhelmed in the Siege of Constantinople, bringing an end to the Byzantine Empire.

These slides walk through the story of 1 Samuel. Samuel is the last judge of Israel. The people reject God and want a king. Saul is anointed as the first king, but he is not a good king. David, the shepherd boy is anointed and Saul is envious of him. David shows honor while Saul continues to self destruct.
