Gen Z: 2022 Trends, Analysis and Consumer InsightsZeno Group
Gen Z is poised to be the next generation of influential shoppers. They are expected to have significant spending power by 2026, so brands must cultivate brand loyalty and start building relationships early.
There are over 1.2 billion Gen Zers globally. It’s estimated that they represent about $143 billion in annual purchasing power. This does not even include the products and services paid for by their parents and family. According to Oxford Economics, Gen Z’s purchasing power will reach $2 trillion in less than ten years.
Gen Z’s importance for marketing and PR will only increase; in the US, Gen Z will make up 30% of the US workforce by 2030 and is estimated to increase their per capita annual expenditure by 70% between 2020 and 2025.
Marketing and PR teams must start paying attention to Gen Z's purchasing habits and trends. This generation is already making waves culturally, and their shopping habits will significantly impact the future of retail, commerce, and B2B decision-making. Previous generations like Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Millennials have always influenced innovation and the economy, as well as how brands create products, communicate with customers, and set prices.
Gen Z is already doing this, and the impact they are making is record-setting. Brands must start understanding how they shop, where they shop, and what they are talking about on their digital channels.
Gen Z represents a lucrative opportunity for brands that can connect with them and influence their shopping habits. This generation is known for being savvy and resourceful in using social and digital apps. They are also highly independent and value transparency.
The purpose of this presentation is to provide a deeper understanding of Philip Morris‘ strategic efforts behind building Marlboro into a successful global brand. Key strategic decisions from the past as well as characteristics of the current global brand strategy are highlighted in this context.

Generous Brands 2.0: Retail’s ongoing journey towards the greater goodFITCH
Emotional connection with shoppers has always sat at the heart of the essence of our industry, and yet there are still precious few retailers putting their money where their mouths are towards a new agenda of social wellbeing.
5 years ago FITCH identified the move towards this trend with its Generous Brands white paper, a ground breaking challenge to the retail industry to take up the mantle and to change both operations and culture from a focus solely on the bottom line to one marrying commercial realities with a responsibility towards a higher purpose.
The time has come to revisit this topic as retail finds itself poised at a moment of profound change – most pointedly the approaching dominance of Gens Y and Z on the shopping landscape, collectively the largest block of consumers in history and by far the most socially conscious.
Against this backdrop it is more important now than ever before for brands and retailers to align their higher purpose with their business goals. Only then will they become not only unique, but relevant and memorable to those that they seek to serve.

Global Brands vs Global Celebs: Who's the Smarter Marketer?Freddie Laker
As globalisation and digitalisation continue to break down the barriers between cultures and geographies we're seeing a rapid rise in global brands, but also in true global celebrities. Celebrities, for better or worse, are brands in their own right and they operate in areas that are passion points for consumers and frequently leverage immense social currency.
Omar Epps, who plays Dr Eric Foreman on the global TV hit House, joins SapientNitro to explore the way celebrities are leveraging cutting-edge marketing techniques and leading in adoption of new digital platforms such as Pinterest, Instragram, or Beeyoo. Global brands can learn from global celebrities to be more effective, but can global celebrities learn from global marketers?
Our open dialogue debate the strategies and communication tactics adopted by both global marketers and celebrities while sharing some of our experiences and insights around supporting global brands. Can 'brand purpose' compete with 'celebrity brands' or do they exist in harmony?
Who's the smarter marketer? In asking who is winning consumer interest we will explore the differences to find new ways to reach consumers, build brands, and drive sales.
Influence is a social currency connecting those who have knowledge and topical experience with those that seek it. In a fragmented media environment, where millennials consume content and are exposed to marketing messages in a state of “continuous partial attention,” influencers have never been more important.
BUZZMEDIA's massive study of U.S. millennials focuses on the personal dynamics of influence: How influence is created, nurtured, earned and shared via social media. The study details the rise of the influencer as a ‘relatable icon’ and the role these dynamic individuals play in a consumer’s day to day life.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
