The Education System and Family Life Essay
Education is a social problem that is very prominent in the world today. Education affects not only children currently attending school, but what they do
when they are older. It affects where someone may end up later in their life, what job they will have, and how much money they will be making.
Unfortunately, not everyone graduates high school, goes to college, and earns a high paying job. The cards some people are dealt can be much different,
and education today arises as a social problem because of income, family life, and the area someone lives. These three areas can really help someone in
their education, but it can also set them back.
Income is one area that is related with the social issue of education. Those most affected are...show more content...
The system is to blame because it allows families to live in poverty and send their child to underperforming schools, and the person is to blame
because it is up to the person to install and show good habits in education. People need to understand that they have the power to influence their
lives, and it is up to them to make something of it. Family life affects education in a variety of ways. In the ideal family, the mother and father
prepare their son or daughter for school. They teach them how to read, spell, and write. Many parents cannot do this anymore in this day and age,
especially if they are struggling with poverty. "Many poor children here in the US and around the world are starving for parental advocacy. Who
can spend time helping their kids achieve in school, if they are exhausted from making ends meet or feel intimidated by the process?" (Huffington
Post). Parents in poverty spend time working, cooking, cleaning, and caring for their family and they do not have time to prepare their child for
school. The article from the Huffington post takes a look at how families in poverty may not know how their child is performing in school, and if
they have any special needs their bills could add up. Children need help with their education, and if the neglect goes on for too long, the child could be
set back substantially in school.
The education system in terms of family life needs to be viewed as both a person and system blame as

Education is a very important foundation for a human life; it offers a chance to students to understand the world around them. Every year lot of
amendments has been made to Indian education system, to accord, a high–quality student before he faces the real world. Now a day's, education
students have very good subject knowledge with managing capability, ability to focus for the long periods and build competitiveness, be disciplined,
which are considered as strengths leveraged by students under Indian education system and weakness is having the less creative knowledge and less
decision taking capability.
The education system in India is split into three stages. There are primary education, secondary education, and higher education. In primary education
period, students can learn all basics like how to read and write English, native language, and national language, Mathematics, Physics, Social, and
Biosciences. In secondary education, students can get knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social studies and on national
language. In this period, students are taught complex concepts of the chosen subject from the aforementioned subjects. Both primary and secondary
education will give a basic overall idea which is required in selecting the subjects for higher education. This will also helpful in real time. For an
instance, when we are buying any medicines which are not prescribed, our knowledge will help us to select the right one. After selecting the desired

I believe that education its very personal journey that varies depending on the . The purpose of education is to prepare the children of today to be
productive citizens of our world tomorrow. School serves as an important tool to prepare students to be independent thinkers, to develop skills that will
help them in life and in the end to use these skills to be productive in their environment and hopefully change it for the best. Education begins from the
moment we are born. From birth to about 6 years of age our brain does most of its development. That's why it's extremely important to surround
children with a bright environment because this time of their life will most likely define how effective they will be in achieving success in the...show

anything to anyone even if its outside the classroom is for my audience to successfully learn what I intended to teach. I feel success when my students
are able to retain the information and most importantly if they can find it relevant to their life. When I'm preparing to teach my students I always try to
find a way to engage them in the lesson, anything that will spark their interest in the subject being thought. I feel that if you can't find something that
excites your students, more than likely you are not excited about it yourself. The most effective methods for teaching are collaboration, relevance and
action. I know this because this I how I learned therefore this I how I teach. The most important aspects of my teaching are preparation, student's
engagement which ultimately leads to student success. Learning to me is the process of acquiring a new skill by exploration. Learning happens when
there is a question or curiosity that captivates our mind and makes us wonder. More often than not children are told to learn this or learn and this is not
conducive to lifelong learning. My philosophy of education is that children learn best when you

How Education Has Changed My Life Essay
These past four years have really been a life changing experience. From a childish freshmen not only at school but at home too, to a still sometimes
childish senior, one who knows when and how to control himself. This school and its teachers have taught me so many lessons that will not be
forgotten any time soon. You can probably imagine how nervous and maybe even a little timorous I was, my first day at Barstow High. It was not
very simple to get accustomed to, coming from Hinkley School, which contained approximately four hundred and fifty students at most, to a big
crowded hall ways of Barstow. I still remember how nervous I was that first day; my upper lip was shaking as I asked a hall monitor where the five

He first started with a lecture followed by a worksheet or two. For the visual learners after the worksheets he would show short videos about that
same subject. Most of those videos were documentaries which were interesting if you paid attention. Another class that I enjoyed was English 2
taught by Mrs. Smith. Yea some people think she is though on her students, that's because she is but I think that it has a purpose. She gives some
challenging assignment that nobody wants to do but somehow she motivates us to complete them. I remember two projects that were fun and
effective, not only as school work but to help sharpen our people skills. One of those projects was to write a children's story book based on an
activist from the civil rights movement. Once we completed our book we took part in a field trip to two elementary schools here in Barstow, once
there we assigned to a five person groups and we also received a list with the room numbers that we were to visit. We read our books to first as well
as to second graders. After we I finished I had some of the children write their named on the back of my book. The second project we were assigned
that year and that I enjoyed was to research two authors from the 1800s or so, in collaboration with a partner that we got assigned to. For the first
author we had the option to either create a power point presentation or create our own website about that particular author. My partner and I choose to

Essay on Lifelong Learning
Lifelong learning
Lifelong learning is the continuous building of skills and knowledge throughout the life of an individual. The first characteristic of lifelong learning is
that it encompasses both formal and non–formal/informal types of education and training. Formal learning includes the hierarchically structured school
system that runs from primary school through the university and organized school–like programs created in business for technical and professional
training. Whereas informal learning describes a lifelong process whereby individuals acquire attitudes, values, skills and knowledge from daily
experience and the educational influences and resources in his or her environment, from family and neighbors, from work and play,...show more

The computer industry is a growing field that will never stay the same as it was when it started. We will always need additional learning to be able
to keep our jobs or move up on the corporate ladder. We can learn about these changes by going back to school, going to workshops, or on the job
training if it is available. These opportunities are tools that will help you learn more about your job. The skills that you learn at one job will help you
advance in that position or get you another position with that company or another company. For example,
If you we are tired of being at that same died end job make that change and go back to school to get that additional education to pursue your dream that
you have. Working a job and having a career are two different things. After spend some years in the work force I decided to further my education. I
wanted a career that I can advance in and learn more.
The process of designing a lifelong learning plan begins with putting it in writing. This plan, sometimes called a learning contract, must be a dynamic
process intended to provide structure in an unstructured environment – known as everyday life.
Lifelong learning exists within this world, allowing learners the freedom to enroll in formal continuing education programs or self–directed learning
such as learning how to garden or play an instrument, as examples. A personal learning plan or learning contract should focus on the following four

In the Special Education program, Special Ed for short, students are placed in smaller classes that give them more time with the teacher, and the
contents of these classes are much easier than the standard classes. According to an article written by Harry and Anderson "approximately 29% of
the students in Special Ed programs are African Americans" (Harry, Anderson). Many politicians blame racism to be a factor for such a large percent
of African Americans in Special Ed. However, a study done by the New York Times shows that the opposite is true. The study states that African
Americans are actually underrepresented in Special Ed programs and there should be more of them in these programs. The study provides evidence
that African Americans are more likely to develop some sort of a learning disability due to their upbringing. The study provides compelling evidence
for its claim, "Thirty–six percent of inner–city black children have elevated levels of lead in their blood" (Paul, Farkas). The figure for suburban white
children is only 4 percent." Also, "black children are about twice as likely to be born prematurely and three times more likely to suffer from fetal
alcohol syndrome (Paul, Farkas)". The study provides these claims as a support to why so many African American develop learning disabilities.
Assuming that all these claims are true, where should one go from here? To many proponents of the Special Ed program, the answer is

How will college change my life
"How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could
be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning.
It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying. College will change
my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world.

As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic
future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally. The
future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and
what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College
students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient,
being able to do their work, without anyone's help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best
of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree. College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between
the real world and school. I'm an adult and expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me. I
have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College

Essay on Education Is Not the Key to Success
About 20 years ago, education was something that a person did only if he/she wanted to. Unfortunately, as the years went by, the idea of "Education
is the key to success" got more, and more enforced. People eventually started to believe that education was the single way to succeed, and the only
thing needed for success. Despite the fact, many Americans believe a college degree will lead them to be successful, in reality, education is not the
solitary way to succeed. Not everybody can receive an education, or even an excellent education from a "decent academic" college/university. "There

Education or book learning had nothing to do with the success of those people that chose to take another path rather than the typical one
(education). People can be successful in any field with the right skills. Book learning has a lot to do with the knowledge a person has, but not with
the skills a person has. There are many A+ graduates out there that cannot get a job, or are stuck working at a place that had nothing to do with their
degree. A numerous amount of students in college care more about grades than knowledge; some graduate having forgotten everything they ever
learned. So there goes a college graduate with little knowledge and no skills. Can a person like that succeed? No. That's why education is not the key
to success. People cannot just go to college and expect that passing classes will get them to succeed. The main thing a person needs in order to
succeed is drive, motivation and passion. He/she has to know what their end goal is and what they need to do to get it. "Commit to the achievement of
the elusive goal in your life" (Arcement, 101). The person has to go about learning what skills will take her or him to be successful. One of the main
skills a person should have is persistence. A person must always keep going after his or her goal even if it takes

In the words of John Dewey, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself, (2017)". John Dewey was a revolutionary, a transformer,
and a pioneer ahead of his time. In this character analysis John Dewey's ideas of education and democracy will be scrutinized.
In the YouTube videos referring to John Dewey, it was discussed that in the not so distant past society viewed "
education in a sit and get mentality,
(2012)". Educators put it in their student's head that recalling facts rapidly was a sign of a good education. During my life time, this was true. I am
fifty–two years old and I can remember standing up as a class and the teacher rattling off multiplication facts and we, the students, being called upon
to give the answer as fast as possible. If you got the answer right you stayed in the game, if not you had to sit down and listen to the others. The last
one standing was hailed as a hero for knowing their multiplication facts. I do not remember any hands–on activities that would have taught the
usefulness in understanding the multiplication process. Currently, I work with special education students. I give them hands on, real life experiences
all day every day. If I did not, I cannot imagine them understanding let alone being engaged in the activities.
However, this was not education in the eyes of John Dewey, who "gave the world the idea that hands on, real life experiences drive creativity, growth,
and learning (2012)". John Dewey felt that "based on

How Education Has Impacted My Life Essay
What is education? According to Webster's Dictionary education is defined as, (noun) 1: the action or process of being educating or of being educated,
2: the field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools. What does education provide for us? How important is
education in today's society?
Education is the very foundation in which we as individuals grow, and formulate the knowledge we gain through life into meaningful ways of adapting

Up until I got into high school. I actually enjoyed school prior to my transition into high school. I was a B student and quite happy with a 3.0 GPA.
At the time, I really did not give my education much thought. In other words, I did not think about my future then, and education had little value in
the great scheme of life. However, I still enjoyed school, and had perfect attendance not missing a day unless it was absolutely a must. Unless I had a
rare case of some unforeseen sickness as to keep from infecting others with some viscous illness I was suffering from at the time. It was not until I
made the big move into that hierarchy of education that really changed my mind. This new experience of education was so different, so terrifying, so
difficult, and overwhelming that I felt there was nothing else to do, but stop attending. I failed so miserably bad it cracked and crumbled the very
foundation in which I spent the last nine years constructing. Without this foundation, I was nothing, I was stupid, and had nothing to offer.
This caused much heartache for several years to come. This also triggered the biggest regret of my entire life, along with feeding a horrible addiction

Education Is The Most Important Aspect Of Life
Philosophers say that life is one unending lesson, that the absorption of knowledge never ends. This motto is superbly represented in all of the pieces
that Ms. Frankenberg's Composition class has read, watched, or listened to. Whether this education has been obvious or not, through a classroom or
another medium, it is usually delivered in lessons that are meant to last a lifetime. By dissecting all of the aspects that can be taken from these
educational situations, the credit goes to those who taught them, and it is to those individuals whom we should give credit for the lesson. These
lessons are great additions to their "legacy resume", or the unofficial track of a person's accomplishments throughout their lifetime. It is in this way that
legacy can be discovered, even if legacy means something different to each individual.
Education is the most important aspect of life; parents teach their children, teachers educate their students, employers train their employees, and even
the President of the United States is educated on important details by his advisors. Education does not just mean a school and a professor, it means any
learning at anytime and anywhere. This reason is exactly why education is one of the most crucial parts of any legacy. Education is universal, without
it no one would even know what a legacy is, much less retain the intelligence to create a legacy of their own. Throughout the years knowledge has
improved, more people made names for themselves in their

Students are often heard whining to their parents about school and finding a thousand and one excuses not to go to school but as little as we realize,
schools actually help build our character and leads us to our career progression. An educated individual is capable of planning for the future, choosing
the right decisions in life and behaving appropriately. Education is not only a pathway to our career but also paves the path to disillusionment. It gives
us the insight on what is right and wrong, making clear judgements and shapes our personalities. The nation's growth depends on the literacy of the
people. "Education is much more than an entry to the job market. It has the power to shape a sustainable future and better world." (Unknown, 2012)
With the help of education, one can easily get an entry of a job while at the same time help develop the nation. Most countries realized that in this

What is education?
What are the challenges facing those who provide it?
Education is a crucial part of life, it influences the way people think, speak, talk, write and react to the world around them. However, education is much
more than just an influence, it is a part of life itself. Throughout the past century, education has dramatically called upon change and variation, with new
technology, science, and both ethical and cultural values making way. Hence, education can really only be defined by its time and place. This means
that as educators, we need to continually update our qualifications and skills to be in equilibrium with the constant changes that are happening around
us, which is a challenge all educators face (Dusseldorp 1998)....show more content...
Moreover, with new fields of work constantly being created, there is a large demand for people with the right qualifications and skills (Kalantzis 1998).
Finding the right people with such skills can be a hard task, unless educational institutions such as schools, tafes and universities are continually
updating the subjects they teach and their teaching methods (Dusseldorp 1998).
Along with changing careers is technology, the most rapidly developing resource on the planet. According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, 66% of
Australian households have access to at least one computer at home and over 72% of households have access to mobile phones. Quality Education
Data have also surveyed that just over 90% of school teachers feel "unprepared" to effectively use technology. This statistic really concretes a point;
educators are not keeping up with technology, and in consequence are slowing down the ability for children to gain experience with technology.
Today we live in a world that solely relies on technology, and not being able to effectively use this technology can be a real problem. As technology
changes more and more, educators will only find it harder to keep their skills up–to–date unless they are consistent in keeping up with the move.
Education also strives to imitate and 'mirror' the ways society works, through both structure and organisation (McBurney–Fry 2002). It slowly prepares
children to face the reality of adult life where there will be winners and

How Education Has Changed My Life
Education has been a part of my life ever since I was born. My mother is a teacher, and I have always been in her classroom, and seeing her teaching
kids is something I feel I knew I wanted to do ever since I was little. As I grew older, I had a rough time in school. I was identified with a learning
disability in the fourth grade which helped me become successful and also made school difficult too. The impact education has had on my life is why I
want to become a teacher.
My mother has been a teacher for over 25 years, and is still going. When I was little, around the ages of three–four, I would go into her classroom to
'visit' her class. Even as time progressed I would go and watch her in the classroom, and eventually went to the same school she taught at. My mother
would bring books home that she did not need anymore and other classroom supplies for me to play school. I would play school with my imaginary
students, pretending I was the teacher and they were my 'perfect classroom of students'. My 'classroom' eventually grew into friends who would be my
students, or my teachers. Talking with individuals who had my mother as a teacher opened my eyes to understanding what an impact a teacher has on
their student.
Growing up, school was a blur to me until about grade three. About first grade, until I was in fifth, I would go into a small reading group with other
students my age. I did not think much of it, but I did not like missing out on classroom instruction. Expressing

Education Is Not Preparation For Life
John Dewey once said "Education is not preparation for life; Education is life itself." Meaning that learning is an active process that should occur to
enhance one 's living and understanding thereof. When one only views education as a temporary thing they miss the big picture , and fail to grasp the
what life truly is. Paulo Freire believes in having the opportunity to discover for oneself all that the world has to offer with the slight guidance from a
teacher. He also says that "Education must begin with the solution of the teacher–student contradiction, by recoiling the poles of the contradiction so
that both are simultaneously teachers and students." Freire introduces the idea that we can and should all learn from each other, that no one person is
ever higher in the world of education. We all have a unique perspective and take on things, and teachers should allow us to discover and interpret for
ourselves.
Opposed to Freire 's view is the opinion that teachers should teach and students should simply absorb what they are being told. They should listen
and soak up as much knowledge as possible but not question what they are learning. Many times teachers are able to get through more material this
way, and some would argue this makes us smarter as students. I myself have experienced this way of learning in my AP Biology classroom last
year. The course was very rigorous and we did not have time to "problem pose", but rather had to take notes and hope to soak up

Education Makes Life Better! Essay
Acquiring education is one of the most critical aspects of a person's life. It should be seen as vital as the air we breathe. The key to a healthy mind
and a successful person is learning. "Without education, you're not going anywhere in this world" is a famous quote by Malcolm X. His quote
reiterates that the competitive world makes it essential for us to have a proper education since it will serve as our weapon to conquer the world.
Education will help a person grow as an individual because a highly knowledgeable person will have a better grip on handling any problem that

The lack of motivation and family values, as well as student responsibility, has created this crisis in the education system. In addition, insufficient
funding of schools along with quality teachers that are retiring are some of the problems we encounter in the education system. In some parts of the
United States, there is a lack of adequate access to materials for reading and writing due to budget constraints. In Allen D. Kanner's article, "Today's
Class Brought to You By..." he mentioned that with the baby boomers retiring, and a high turnover among new teachers, who are asked to teach
subjects they are not properly trained for, are causing difficult classroom situations (280). Similarly, Governor Jerry Brown's statement last January 11
pointed out that K–12 education has 'borne the brunt' of the state's budget cuts with more than $18 billion in cuts over the last three years. This
resulted in larger class sizes, programs are cut, and over 30,000 educators laid off. These teachers are very valuable in our society because they
provide our youth with the knowledge and social experiences that they will use to better their future and the future of the entire world. As a student, I

Education: Preparation for Life
A common question that educators and parents alike ask is how and what to teach children. Before one decides this, however, I believe it is important
to know what your goals and purposes are. It is important to know why the children are being educated. It is my firm belief that in a person's
educational experience, they should be prepared for more than just their career.
One of school's many functions is socialization. School is where many roles are taught, such as gender roles. Students form a basis of how to exist

It is well known how important a good education is, especially since we have many societies in the past that have let the masses go uneducated to

where we often complain about too much homework. The knowledge that we are given does, in fact, give us power to do so much to better ourselves
and everyone else. A child from a poor upbringing has the possibility of eventually discovering a cure for cancer, for example. Education helps to
tighten the gaps between social groups.
This brings me to another important aspect of an education: respect of diversity. I think that a diverse school fulfills more educational goals. Students
need to be taught to appreciate people of different ethnic backgrounds, homes, personalities, types, etc. A student must be taught not to judge others by
these qualities and taught to not only tolerate diversity but to embrace it. I hope that as a teacher I will be able to help students to open their eyes and
minds to other types of people.
This is one of many things on my list of tasks that I hope to accomplish as a teacher. I want and plan to mold students who can reason and think
critically and not only in boundaries that are set. I hope to be a teacher that makes a child question what they assume they know about the world

The Education System And Family Life Essay

  • 1. The Education System and Family Life Essay Education is a social problem that is very prominent in the world today. Education affects not only children currently attending school, but what they do when they are older. It affects where someone may end up later in their life, what job they will have, and how much money they will be making. Unfortunately, not everyone graduates high school, goes to college, and earns a high paying job. The cards some people are dealt can be much different, and education today arises as a social problem because of income, family life, and the area someone lives. These three areas can really help someone in their education, but it can also set them back. Income is one area that is related with the social issue of education. Those most affected are...show more content... The system is to blame because it allows families to live in poverty and send their child to underperforming schools, and the person is to blame because it is up to the person to install and show good habits in education. People need to understand that they have the power to influence their lives, and it is up to them to make something of it. Family life affects education in a variety of ways. In the ideal family, the mother and father prepare their son or daughter for school. They teach them how to read, spell, and write. Many parents cannot do this anymore in this day and age, especially if they are struggling with poverty. "Many poor children here in the US and around the world are starving for parental advocacy. Who can spend time helping their kids achieve in school, if they are exhausted from making ends meet or feel intimidated by the process?" (Huffington Post). Parents in poverty spend time working, cooking, cleaning, and caring for their family and they do not have time to prepare their child for school. The article from the Huffington post takes a look at how families in poverty may not know how their child is performing in school, and if they have any special needs their bills could add up. Children need help with their education, and if the neglect goes on for too long, the child could be set back substantially in school. The education system in terms of family life needs to be viewed as both a person and system blame as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Education is a very important foundation for a human life; it offers a chance to students to understand the world around them. Every year lot of amendments has been made to Indian education system, to accord, a high–quality student before he faces the real world. Now a day's, education students have very good subject knowledge with managing capability, ability to focus for the long periods and build competitiveness, be disciplined, which are considered as strengths leveraged by students under Indian education system and weakness is having the less creative knowledge and less decision taking capability. The education system in India is split into three stages. There are primary education, secondary education, and higher education. In primary education period, students can learn all basics like how to read and write English, native language, and national language, Mathematics, Physics, Social, and Biosciences. In secondary education, students can get knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social studies and on national language. In this period, students are taught complex concepts of the chosen subject from the aforementioned subjects. Both primary and secondary education will give a basic overall idea which is required in selecting the subjects for higher education. This will also helpful in real time. For an instance, when we are buying any medicines which are not prescribed, our knowledge will help us to select the right one. After selecting the desired Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. I believe that education its very personal journey that varies depending on the . The purpose of education is to prepare the children of today to be productive citizens of our world tomorrow. School serves as an important tool to prepare students to be independent thinkers, to develop skills that will help them in life and in the end to use these skills to be productive in their environment and hopefully change it for the best. Education begins from the moment we are born. From birth to about 6 years of age our brain does most of its development. That's why it's extremely important to surround children with a bright environment because this time of their life will most likely define how effective they will be in achieving success in the...show more content... They don't want to know why 2+2= 4 will help them when they have to buy apples at the store, but if 2+2=4 will help them to be able to buy items from the teachers treasure chest then they are in. The teachers treasure chest is more interesting because is happening now. My goal when I teach anything to anyone even if its outside the classroom is for my audience to successfully learn what I intended to teach. I feel success when my students are able to retain the information and most importantly if they can find it relevant to their life. When I'm preparing to teach my students I always try to find a way to engage them in the lesson, anything that will spark their interest in the subject being thought. I feel that if you can't find something that excites your students, more than likely you are not excited about it yourself. The most effective methods for teaching are collaboration, relevance and action. I know this because this I how I learned therefore this I how I teach. The most important aspects of my teaching are preparation, student's engagement which ultimately leads to student success. Learning to me is the process of acquiring a new skill by exploration. Learning happens when there is a question or curiosity that captivates our mind and makes us wonder. More often than not children are told to learn this or learn and this is not conducive to lifelong learning. My philosophy of education is that children learn best when you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. How Education Has Changed My Life Essay These past four years have really been a life changing experience. From a childish freshmen not only at school but at home too, to a still sometimes childish senior, one who knows when and how to control himself. This school and its teachers have taught me so many lessons that will not be forgotten any time soon. You can probably imagine how nervous and maybe even a little timorous I was, my first day at Barstow High. It was not very simple to get accustomed to, coming from Hinkley School, which contained approximately four hundred and fifty students at most, to a big crowded hall ways of Barstow. I still remember how nervous I was that first day; my upper lip was shaking as I asked a hall monitor where the five hundred row was located....show more content... He first started with a lecture followed by a worksheet or two. For the visual learners after the worksheets he would show short videos about that same subject. Most of those videos were documentaries which were interesting if you paid attention. Another class that I enjoyed was English 2 taught by Mrs. Smith. Yea some people think she is though on her students, that's because she is but I think that it has a purpose. She gives some challenging assignment that nobody wants to do but somehow she motivates us to complete them. I remember two projects that were fun and effective, not only as school work but to help sharpen our people skills. One of those projects was to write a children's story book based on an activist from the civil rights movement. Once we completed our book we took part in a field trip to two elementary schools here in Barstow, once there we assigned to a five person groups and we also received a list with the room numbers that we were to visit. We read our books to first as well as to second graders. After we I finished I had some of the children write their named on the back of my book. The second project we were assigned that year and that I enjoyed was to research two authors from the 1800s or so, in collaboration with a partner that we got assigned to. For the first author we had the option to either create a power point presentation or create our own website about that particular author. My partner and I choose to build our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on Lifelong Learning Lifelong learning Lifelong learning is the continuous building of skills and knowledge throughout the life of an individual. The first characteristic of lifelong learning is that it encompasses both formal and non–formal/informal types of education and training. Formal learning includes the hierarchically structured school system that runs from primary school through the university and organized school–like programs created in business for technical and professional training. Whereas informal learning describes a lifelong process whereby individuals acquire attitudes, values, skills and knowledge from daily experience and the educational influences and resources in his or her environment, from family and neighbors, from work and play,...show more content... The computer industry is a growing field that will never stay the same as it was when it started. We will always need additional learning to be able to keep our jobs or move up on the corporate ladder. We can learn about these changes by going back to school, going to workshops, or on the job training if it is available. These opportunities are tools that will help you learn more about your job. The skills that you learn at one job will help you advance in that position or get you another position with that company or another company. For example, If you we are tired of being at that same died end job make that change and go back to school to get that additional education to pursue your dream that you have. Working a job and having a career are two different things. After spend some years in the work force I decided to further my education. I wanted a career that I can advance in and learn more. The process of designing a lifelong learning plan begins with putting it in writing. This plan, sometimes called a learning contract, must be a dynamic process intended to provide structure in an unstructured environment – known as everyday life. Lifelong learning exists within this world, allowing learners the freedom to enroll in formal continuing education programs or self–directed learning such as learning how to garden or play an instrument, as examples. A personal learning plan or learning contract should focus on the following four Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Education Is Not Preparation For Life "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." If one accepts the quote by John Dewey to be true, then depriving someone of their education is depriving them of their life. Throughout the centuries, human beings have sought educational freedom. The United States of America has become a symbol for all who seek life, or education rather. Millions of people come to the United States, from less privileged countries, each year in hopes for a better education that is coupled with a better life. Today, unfortunately, the U.S has lost its edge in the education department. Many studies today show this failure, "the U.S. is the clear leader in total annual spending, but ranks 9th in Science performance and 10th in Math" (Staff)....show more content... In the Special Education program, Special Ed for short, students are placed in smaller classes that give them more time with the teacher, and the contents of these classes are much easier than the standard classes. According to an article written by Harry and Anderson "approximately 29% of the students in Special Ed programs are African Americans" (Harry, Anderson). Many politicians blame racism to be a factor for such a large percent of African Americans in Special Ed. However, a study done by the New York Times shows that the opposite is true. The study states that African Americans are actually underrepresented in Special Ed programs and there should be more of them in these programs. The study provides evidence that African Americans are more likely to develop some sort of a learning disability due to their upbringing. The study provides compelling evidence for its claim, "Thirty–six percent of inner–city black children have elevated levels of lead in their blood" (Paul, Farkas). The figure for suburban white children is only 4 percent." Also, "black children are about twice as likely to be born prematurely and three times more likely to suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome (Paul, Farkas)". The study provides these claims as a support to why so many African American develop learning disabilities. Assuming that all these claims are true, where should one go from here? To many proponents of the Special Ed program, the answer is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. How will college change my life "How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one's own actions...show more content... As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally. The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree. College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I'm an adult and expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me. I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College will change my life in the way that I can develop life skills outside academics, to be fully Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay on Education Is Not the Key to Success About 20 years ago, education was something that a person did only if he/she wanted to. Unfortunately, as the years went by, the idea of "Education is the key to success" got more, and more enforced. People eventually started to believe that education was the single way to succeed, and the only thing needed for success. Despite the fact, many Americans believe a college degree will lead them to be successful, in reality, education is not the solitary way to succeed. Not everybody can receive an education, or even an excellent education from a "decent academic" college/university. People can be successful in any field with the right skills. Book learning has a lot to do with the knowledge a person has, but not with the skills a person has. There are many A+ graduates out there that cannot get a job, or are stuck working at a place that had nothing to do with their degree. A numerous amount of students in college care more about grades than knowledge; some graduate having forgotten everything they ever learned. So there goes a college graduate with little knowledge and no skills. Can a person like that succeed? No. That's why education is not the key to success. People cannot just go to college and expect that passing classes will get them to succeed. The main thing a person needs in order to succeed is drive, motivation and passion. He/she has to know what their end goal is and what they need to do to get it. "Commit to the achievement of the elusive goal in your life" (Arcement, 101). The person has to go about learning what skills will take her or him to be successful. One of the main skills a person should have is persistence. A person must always keep going after his or her goal even if it takes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. In the words of John Dewey, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself, (2017)". John Dewey was a revolutionary, a transformer, and a pioneer ahead of his time. In this character analysis John Dewey's ideas of education and democracy will be scrutinized. In the YouTube videos referring to John Dewey, it was discussed that in the not so distant past society viewed " education in a sit and get mentality, (2012)". Educators put it in their student's head that recalling facts rapidly was a sign of a good education. During my life time, this was true. I am fifty–two years old and I can remember standing up as a class and the teacher rattling off multiplication facts and we, the students, being called upon to give the answer as fast as possible. If you got the answer right you stayed in the game, if not you had to sit down and listen to the others. The last one standing was hailed as a hero for knowing their multiplication facts. I do not remember any hands–on activities that would have taught the usefulness in understanding the multiplication process. Currently, I work with special education students. I give them hands on, real life experiences all day every day. If I did not, I cannot imagine them understanding let alone being engaged in the activities. However, this was not education in the eyes of John Dewey, who "gave the world the idea that hands on, real life experiences drive creativity, growth, and learning (2012)". • 10. How Education Has Impacted My Life Essay What is education? According to Webster's Dictionary education is defined as, (noun) 1: the action or process of being educating or of being educated, 2: the field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools. What does education provide for us? How important is education in today's society? Education is the very foundation in which we as individuals grow, and formulate the knowledge we gain through life into meaningful ways of adapting to the world. Education is very important in the sense that in today's society, there is not much success without education. Education allows us to grow and learn intellectually. I actually enjoyed school prior to my transition into high school. I was a B student and quite happy with a 3.0 GPA. At the time, I really did not give my education much thought. In other words, I did not think about my future then, and education had little value in the great scheme of life. However, I still enjoyed school, and had perfect attendance not missing a day unless it was absolutely a must. Unless I had a rare case of some unforeseen sickness as to keep from infecting others with some viscous illness I was suffering from at the time. It was not until I made the big move into that hierarchy of education that really changed my mind. This new experience of education was so different, so terrifying, so difficult, and overwhelming that I felt there was nothing else to do, but stop attending. I failed so miserably bad it cracked and crumbled the very foundation in which I spent the last nine years constructing. Without this foundation, I was nothing, I was stupid, and had nothing to offer. This caused much heartache for several years to come. This also triggered the biggest regret of my entire life, along with feeding a horrible addiction that began with marijuana and ended with methamphetamines. Had I stayed in the game, and not thrown in the towel, I would have graduated a year ahead of all my friends. I would have been primed and ready for the world at the ripe age of seventeen. • 11. Education Is Not Preparation For Life Education: The Key to Success "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." If one accepts the quote by John Dewey to be true, then depriving someone of their education is depriving them of their life. Throughout the centuries, human beings have sought educational freedom. The United States of America has become a symbol for all who seek life, or education rather. Millions of people come to the United States, from less privileged countries, each year in hopes for a better education that is coupled with a better life. Today, unfortunately, the U.S has lost its edge in the educational department. Many studies today show this failure, "the U.S. is the clear leader in total annual spending, but ranks 9th in Science performance and 10th in Math" (Staff). Furthermore, it seems that the U.S can't even educate its own minority groups, which mainly includes African Americans. The educational gap in the U.S is of great concern, "the percentage of Blacks age 25 and older with a high school diploma or more was 72 percent in the 2000 census, compared to 85.5 percent for Whites" ("Blacks: Education Issues"). Two major issues that are keeping African Americans from success are Special Education Programs and teacher tenures, these systems need to be replaced for African Americans to get a better education. Almost every elementary, middle and high school in the U.S has a program known as the Special Education Program. The aim of this program is to help students with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Education Is The Most Important Aspect Of Life Philosophers say that life is one unending lesson, that the absorption of knowledge never ends. This motto is superbly represented in all of the pieces that Ms. Frankenberg's Composition class has read, watched, or listened to. Whether this education has been obvious or not, through a classroom or another medium, it is usually delivered in lessons that are meant to last a lifetime. By dissecting all of the aspects that can be taken from these educational situations, the credit goes to those who taught them, and it is to those individuals whom we should give credit for the lesson. These lessons are great additions to their "legacy resume", or the unofficial track of a person's accomplishments throughout their lifetime. It is in this way that legacy can be discovered, even if legacy means something different to each individual. Education is the most important aspect of life; parents teach their children, teachers educate their students, employers train their employees, and even the President of the United States is educated on important details by his advisors. Education does not just mean a school and a professor, it means any learning at anytime and anywhere. This reason is exactly why education is one of the most crucial parts of any legacy. Education is universal, without it no one would even know what a legacy is, much less retain the intelligence to create a legacy of their own. Throughout the years knowledge has improved, more people made names for themselves in their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Education is the key to success, and as we all know it, there are too many reason why education is important in our lives but none on the disadvantages of it because education only brings benefits towards us. According to Oxford Dictionary, the word 'education' is derived from Latin, Д“ducДЃtiЕЌ in the mid–16th century and is defined as "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university." The origin of education began as story–telling passed knowledge and now it has taken up to 3 forms of education which is; formal education, informal education and non–formal education. Students are often heard whining to their parents about school and finding a thousand and one excuses not to go to school but as little as we realize, schools actually help build our character and leads us to our career progression. An educated individual is capable of planning for the future, choosing the right decisions in life and behaving appropriately. Education is not only a pathway to our career but also paves the path to disillusionment. It gives us the insight on what is right and wrong, making clear judgements and shapes our personalities. The nation's growth depends on the literacy of the people. "Education is much more than an entry to the job market. It has the power to shape a sustainable future and better world." (Unknown, 2012) With the help of education, one can easily get an entry of a job while at the same time help develop the nation. Most countries realized that in this competitive world, education is important for the social progress and economic growth of a nation. As John F. • 14. what is education Essay What is education? What are the challenges facing those who provide it? Education is a crucial part of life, it influences the way people think, speak, talk, write and react to the world around them. However, education is much more than just an influence, it is a part of life itself. Throughout the past century, education has dramatically called upon change and variation, with new technology, science, and both ethical and cultural values making way. Hence, education can really only be defined by its time and place. This means that as educators, we need to continually update our qualifications and skills to be in equilibrium with the constant changes that are happening around us, which is a challenge all educators face (Dusseldorp 1998)....show more content... Moreover, with new fields of work constantly being created, there is a large demand for people with the right qualifications and skills (Kalantzis 1998). Finding the right people with such skills can be a hard task, unless educational institutions such as schools, tafes and universities are continually updating the subjects they teach and their teaching methods (Dusseldorp 1998). Along with changing careers is technology, the most rapidly developing resource on the planet. According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, 66% of Australian households have access to at least one computer at home and over 72% of households have access to mobile phones. Quality Education Data have also surveyed that just over 90% of school teachers feel "unprepared" to effectively use technology. This statistic really concretes a point; educators are not keeping up with technology, and in consequence are slowing down the ability for children to gain experience with technology. Today we live in a world that solely relies on technology, and not being able to effectively use this technology can be a real problem. As technology changes more and more, educators will only find it harder to keep their skills up–to–date unless they are consistent in keeping up with the move. Education also strives to imitate and 'mirror' the ways society works, through both structure and organisation (McBurney–Fry 2002). It slowly prepares children to face the reality of adult life where there will be winners and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. How Education Has Changed My Life Education has been a part of my life ever since I was born. My mother is a teacher, and I have always been in her classroom, and seeing her teaching kids is something I feel I knew I wanted to do ever since I was little. As I grew older, I had a rough time in school. I was identified with a learning disability in the fourth grade which helped me become successful and also made school difficult too. The impact education has had on my life is why I want to become a teacher. My mother has been a teacher for over 25 years, and is still going. When I was little, around the ages of three–four, I would go into her classroom to 'visit' her class. Even as time progressed I would go and watch her in the classroom, and eventually went to the same school she taught at. My mother would bring books home that she did not need anymore and other classroom supplies for me to play school. I would play school with my imaginary students, pretending I was the teacher and they were my 'perfect classroom of students'. My 'classroom' eventually grew into friends who would be my students, or my teachers. Talking with individuals who had my mother as a teacher opened my eyes to understanding what an impact a teacher has on their student. Growing up, school was a blur to me until about grade three. About first grade, until I was in fifth, I would go into a small reading group with other students my age. I did not think much of it, but I did not like missing out on classroom instruction. • 16. Education Is Not Preparation For Life John Dewey once said "Education is not preparation for life; Education is life itself." Meaning that learning is an active process that should occur to enhance one 's living and understanding thereof. When one only views education as a temporary thing they miss the big picture , and fail to grasp the what life truly is. Paulo Freire believes in having the opportunity to discover for oneself all that the world has to offer with the slight guidance from a teacher. He also says that "Education must begin with the solution of the teacher–student contradiction, by recoiling the poles of the contradiction so that both are simultaneously teachers and students." Freire introduces the idea that we can and should all learn from each other, that no one person is ever higher in the world of education. We all have a unique perspective and take on things, and teachers should allow us to discover and interpret for ourselves. Opposed to Freire 's view is the opinion that teachers should teach and students should simply absorb what they are being told. They should listen and soak up as much knowledge as possible but not question what they are learning. Many times teachers are able to get through more material this way, and some would argue this makes us smarter as students. I myself have experienced this way of learning in my AP Biology classroom last year. The course was very rigorous and we did not have time to "problem pose", but rather had to take notes and hope to soak up Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The key to a healthy mind and a successful person is learning. "Without education, you're not going anywhere in this world" is a famous quote by Malcolm X. His quote reiterates that the competitive world makes it essential for us to have a proper education since it will serve as our weapon to conquer the world. Education will help a person grow as an individual because a highly knowledgeable person will have a better grip on handling any problem that comes his or her way. The lack of motivation and family values, as well as student responsibility, has created this crisis in the education system. In addition, insufficient funding of schools along with quality teachers that are retiring are some of the problems we encounter in the education system. In some parts of the United States, there is a lack of adequate access to materials for reading and writing due to budget constraints. In Allen D. Kanner's article, "Today's Class Brought to You By..." he mentioned that with the baby boomers retiring, and a high turnover among new teachers, who are asked to teach subjects they are not properly trained for, are causing difficult classroom situations (280). Similarly, Governor Jerry Brown's statement last January 11 pointed out that K–12 education has 'borne the brunt' of the state's budget cuts with more than $18 billion in cuts over the last three years. This resulted in larger class sizes, programs are cut, and over 30,000 educators laid off. These teachers are very valuable in our society because they provide our youth with the knowledge and social experiences that they will use to better their future and the future of the entire world. As a student, I have suffered the consequences of triple digit fee increases and the lack of available classes offered. • 19. Education: Preparation for Life Essay Education: Preparation for Life A common question that educators and parents alike ask is how and what to teach children. Before one decides this, however, I believe it is important to know what your goals and purposes are. It is important to know why the children are being educated. It is my firm belief that in a person's educational experience, they should be prepared for more than just their career. One of school's many functions is socialization. School is where many roles are taught, such as gender roles. Students form a basis of how to exist within society. This can be in a negative way but also in a positive way. It is well known how important a good education is, especially since we have many societies in the past that have let the masses go uneducated to compare to. Historically, to educate the common people was to give them power, and that was feared. We take this for granted in ourmodern day world where we often complain about too much homework. The knowledge that we are given does, in fact, give us power to do so much to better ourselves and everyone else. A child from a poor upbringing has the possibility of eventually discovering a cure for cancer, for example. Education helps to tighten the gaps between social groups. This brings me to another important aspect of an education: respect of diversity. I think that a diverse school fulfills more educational goals. Students need to be taught to appreciate people of different ethnic backgrounds, homes, personalities, types, etc. A student must be taught not to judge others by these qualities and taught to not only tolerate diversity but to embrace it. I hope that as a teacher I will be able to help students to open their eyes and minds to other types of people. This is one of many things on my list of tasks that I hope to accomplish as a teacher.
