3. •Founded by Shriners members in 1911, the Royal Order of Jesters was organized at an
informal meeting of the male fraternity six years later, with courts established in dozens
of locations from San Francisco to Cincinnati.
At the time of the fourth annual meeting in Des Moines in 1921, there were 51 courts and
more than 1,300 Jesters.

4. •In 1925, the National Court funded a banquet and entertainment for the first ever formal
dress event for members and their ladies in Los Angeles.
The next time that wives attended a National Court was in Cleveland in 1931, with this
being the first time that Jesters aspiring to the Royal Line spoke before members.

5. •In the early 1930s, laws were set in place that established Emeriti National Court
membership, as well as Life Membership in subordinate courts (after 25 years of active
participation).
In 1935, distinguished members were recognized by Aloha Court No.1 through the
Hawaiian King Koko Degree.
