In a day and hour like the one we living, true and faithful leaders are hard to find. Education as a tool, can be used to train young people to become future leaders with integrity. As "Iron sharpens iron" leaders needs training from time to time to keep them in check and held accountable at all costs. Good leadership is an endangered specie (Jones, 2009). This presentation was made at the annual Moithuti Economic Empowerment Conference hosted by Tshwane University of Technology's Student Affairs and Extracurricular Development.

2. LEADERSHIP
You do not have to be a superstar or an overachiever
to lead; you just need to care about something and do
something about it. It doesn’t have to be BIG, just do
something. Every great chance starts small, you just
need to take that first step, not because you
necessarily have the authority or responsibility, but
because your care, (Kouzes & Posner, 2014).

3. LEADERSHIP
Leadership is defined
as a commitment to
influence others to
work diligently toward
achieving their goals.

4. Leadership can be hard to define and it means
different things to different people-Perspective
Oriented.

5. AN EFFECTIVE LEADER:
• Creates an inspiring vision of the future.
• Motivates and inspires people to engage with that vision.
• Manages delivery of the vision.
• Coaches and builds a team, so that it is more effective at achieving the vision.
(Bennis & Nanus, 1975).

1. Learn from mistakes of those who have lead before you, seek to work on
getting those right instead of using it to gain popularity.
2. Work hand-in-hand with those who preceded you, they have been there long
enough and know how to go about doing the WORK.
3. Read, read and read. The most dangerous leader is one with a “know it all
attitude. Leaders are lifelong learners.
4. Allow others to walk with you (be mentored because you have NEVER been
this way before.
5. Be credible, loyal and considerate as you put the needs of others FIRST.
6. Laugh at your own mistakes, admit them and move forward.
7. Reward yourself every time you succeed in executing a task.
8. Complement those that work under you for a job well-done.
9. Be approachable, DON”T be a superstar. It’s not about you, it’s about the
people.
10. Keep smiling, it’s good for you.
