2. What is Critical Thinking?
Everyone thinks that it is our nature to critically think about
making decisions, when in real some of our thinking is partial
and biased. It is a mode of thinking. It is thinking about the
subject, content and a problem as whole. Critical thinking is
self directed, self-monitored and self-disciplined. It allows
effective-communication and problem solving abilities. People
who consistently, think critically live rationally, reasonably
and empathically.
Critical thinking is described as the intellectually disciplined
process of actively and skillfully applying, conceptualizing,
analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating information gathered or
generated by observation, reflection, experience,
communication or reasoning, a guide to belief and action.
3. Usage of Critical Thinking
I was left with a decision that caused me to think critically before
doing me anything that could effect my self negatively. I had to
decide if I wanted to leave a job for another. I was working as an
operational manager in a Psychiatric clinic. Yes the job came very
easy to me and the pay was okay. But I just was not completely
satisfied. I did not feel like I was utilizing my degree to the greatest
potential. I applied for different positions and stumbled upon a
paraprofessional position at an software company. This position was
involved with diverse groups, paid more and utilized my degree.
After an interview, I was offered the position but I still had the other
j0b. Therefore I was forced to critically think about the pros and
cons of each pstion.
4. Usage of Critical Thinking(Cont’d)
Leaving job for another can be a huge decision to make. This
decision caused me to think critically about the pros and cons
before doing anything. Do stay at the job I am okay with or
venture out to something better?
5. The process of my Critical Thinking
To critically think about making a huge decision there is a process to make the right
and best decision. To make the best decision of myself , I, first, identified the topic
and issue. I identified that the purpose of me making this decision, it was to gain a
better job and to utilize my knowledge to its full potential. The question I was
asking myself was “ Do I leave my current job or venture out to a position that
allows me to work with software professionals and utilize my degree? I understood
that I had to make a decision to benefit myself and to use the knowledge I have to
its fullest potential. I comprehend and know the pros and cons of both positions
such as benefits and learning skills. I applied what I have comprehended to the
situation. I broke down all components of my decision and weighed the good and
bad of each position, what is best for me in the long run. Finally I evaluated all
aspects and made a decision to leave my current position for a position I would
enjoy. I can proudly say I love my career I work with MBA graduates and
healthcare professionals.
