Coorg is a small district in Karnataka located between Mangalore and Mysore known for coffee, evergreen rainforests, and spice gardens. The Coorgi people are of possible Arabic or Greek descent as evidenced by the long coats and belts they wear. Coorgi men have a reputation for bravery, and the Coorg Regiment is one of the most decorated in the Indian Army. Coorg offers many outdoor activities like river rafting, rock climbing, and trekking as the Kaveri River flows through lush forests where elephants and other wildlife can be seen. Nearby is the Namdroling Monastery, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist settlements in South India.
