The decision to co-locate all or part of the data center facility can be a risky one. Because the decision to build vs. buy is essentially one of cost, IT decision makers must put in the time and effort in requirements gathering, determining the needs of the business, and selecting a co-location vendor to ensure the engagement is successful.
This solution set will take IT decision makers through the following process to select a co-location vendor that fits the organization’s needs:
* Determine if a co-location strategy is a fit with the business.
* Understand the market and vendor offerings.
* Evaluate vendor offerings and proposals.
* Manage the co-location relationship.
Use this solution set to ensure that the organization’s co-location strategy is a success.

The Expanding Role and Importance of Application Delivery Controllers [Resear...Radware
When it Comes to ADCs, Perception is Not Reality.
The Enterprise Strategy Group and Radware recently conducted a collaborative research project about the current use and future strategies of application delivery controllers (ADCs).
Based on a survey of 243 IT professionals, the research reveals that the role of ADCs has expanded well beyond the historical perception of hardware-based load balancers.
What’s most interesting is that ADCs are becoming a critical component of a defense-in-depth security strategy as enterprises fine-tune security policy and enforcement to align with their sensitive business applications. Organizations are also deploying ADCs as virtual appliances at an increasing rate and taking advantage of ADC functionality from the network through the application layer.
There is a lesson to be learned here: enterprise organizations can get creative with ADC deployments for performance tuning, application-specific services, and critical system protection. Read this research http://www.radware.com/social/esg-adc-research/ to understand the benefits of applying ADCs in this fashion.
Cracking the Data Conundrum: How Successful Companies Make #BigData OperationalCapgemini
There is little arguing the benefits and disruptive potential of Big Data. However, many organizations have not fully embedded Big Data in their operations. In fact, our research shows that only 13% have achieved full-scale production for their Big Data implementations. The most troubling development is that most organizations are failing to benefit from their investments. Only 27% of respondents described their Big Data initiatives as “successful” and only 8% described them as “very successful”.
So, how can organizations make Big Data operational? There are many factors that go into the making of a successful Big Data implementation. However, the single biggest factor that we observed in our research was that organizations that have a strong operating model stood apart. This operating model has multiple distinct elements, which include, among others, a well-defined organizational structure, systematic implementation plan, and strong leadership support. For instance, success rates for organizations with an analytics business unit are nearly 2.5 times those that have ad-hoc, isolated teams. The report highlights the key factors for successful Big Data implementations.

With recent dramatic changes in our global workforce, economy, and environment, the need for digital business transformation is now proven to be critical.
These slides—based on the webinar from leading IT research firm EMA and Redwood Software—explain why you should prioritize digital transformation in your organization and support those efforts with workload automation.
Financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions are at the forefront of guiding organizational performance and supporting the decision-making process. Over the years, the challenges faced by management have required different planning approaches and techniques. Some have stayed and become ‘the norm’, for example driver-based planning. Yet, at the same time, the technological systems that underpin FP&A’s work have been constantly evolving to support faster decision-making, more scenarios and increasing volumes of data.

The Outlook for Data 2017: A Snapshot Into the Evolving Role of Audience InsightFilipp Paster
Data is playing an increasingly critical role across a vast range of advertising and marketing applications. Marketers, media buyers, publishers, and digital advertising technology executives said that a renewed focus on measurement and attribution will be the centerpiece of their efforts in 2017 —a shift from 2016, when “cross-device audience recognition” took the lead position. This second annual benchmarking report explores how digital marketing and media practitioners are using audience data, and how they intend to evolve their data-centric practices in the year ahead.
Application modernization and digital transformation are the driving forces in many organizations. These activities, however, are stressing scheduling and automation tools to the point at which many are looking for better answers.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

2017 research - the Connected Business: a survey report on business connectivity and the importance of integration
The study, conducted for Dell Boomi by the research firm Vanson Bourne, is based on a global
survey of 900 IT decision-makers that outlines the state of integration today, the effect of poor
integration, and the benefits realized when integration fully connects a business. Highlights of
the survey results include:
• 86 percent of respondents believe that becoming more connected as a business will have a
positive impact on revenue growth in the next 12 months
• Average cost savings since deploying an integration solution exceed $2.7 million
• For 74 percent of CIOs surveyed in the US, successful integration will be crucial to remaining
competitive over the next five years
• 64 percent in the US have missed business opportunities as a result of poor integration
• 59 percent characterize integration as the “Achilles heel” for their organization
