This field trip is for Year 3 students and will take them to the British Museum to see exhibits on the Stone Age and Romans. The half-day trip includes a presentation by a museum staff member, then the class will split up to either explore the Hoards exhibition or the Roman section. After lunch at the museum, the students will head back to school.

Through archival research, field surveys, interviews with Mau Mau veterans, and media projects, the museum is working to create a digital recreation of the camps and illuminate this history, which has been almost entirely wiped from national memory in both Kenya and the UK. The museum team is also building an online presence through a blog and hopes to eventually have a physical space to share their findings and foster discussion about colonialism.

November Meeting in Greece - The First Days
Students from Garbsen, Germany visited students in Thessaloniki, Greece. They toured historical sites including the Vergina Museum where the tomb of King Philipp II of Macedon was discovered in 1977, despite earlier tomb raiders. The museum displays many precious artifacts found in the tomb of the father of Alexander the Great who died in 336 BC. The students also worked on projects on Monday morning with the help of their dedicated Greek teachers Eva and Margarita in the school yard.

Museum school power point
Students from Blair Mc Pherson's class will participate in a week-long Museum School program at the Royal Alberta Museum in January. During Museum School, students will learn about Alberta's history and natural environment by exploring the museum galleries, interviewing experts, and using the museum as their classroom. They will journal about what they learn each day and create their own museum exhibit to share back at school. Parents are needed as volunteers during the week and there is a minimal cost for transportation. Afterwards, the students will present what they learned at a "Night at the Museum" event in May for their family and community.
KS2 November 2010 Newsletter
In year 3, the students studied Romans in history class. To bring the topic to life, they had a Roman theme day where they dressed up and learned what it was like to wear a toga. Throughout various lessons, they learned about Roman life and did activities like javelin practice and calculating with Roman numerals. They also had a Roman banquet, which was most students' favorite part as they ate Roman foods while feeding each other.

The meeting brought together teachers from 7 European schools to discuss project activities and visit the host school, Gaelscoil Faithleann. Our second Comenius project meeting took place in London, England from November 20-24, 2013. The group stayed in Stratford and visited Ranelagh Primary School daily, where they engaged with young students and shared presentations on traditional autumn foods from each country. They toured Borough Market and sampled traditional English ingredients and teas. The host school surprised visitors with a cultural food tasting event showcasing dishes from many backgrounds. The group also toured central London sites and neighborhoods, experiencing Fish and Chips in Greenwich and Indian food in Brick Lane. Teachers discussed progress on shared tasks and planned the next meeting in Hungary, focusing on winter holiday foods.

The 1st Primary school of Pyrgos participates in a multilateral Comenius Project, entitled European Friends:Traditional Toys and Games, 2012-1-GB1-COMO6-18389. After each mobility, the pupils of the 1st Primary School of Pyrgos explore the history, geography, culture and cuisine of the chosen country in more detail culminating in a ‘Passport to a Partner’ day event.
Cypriot travel diary
The travelers spent 5 days in Palermo, Italy. On the first day, they visited a school and theater, and had free time to explore. The second day included a guided city tour, visiting a cathedral, and trying traditional Sicilian food. The third day consisted of presentations about the sea and a dance workshop. Sightseeing around Palermo by bus occurred on the fourth day, along with visiting a cathedral and Chefalu. The final day involved two cathedrals and a museum before free time to prepare for the return trip to Cyprus.

Nelita from Bulgaria visited Greece as part of a Comenius project involving schools from several European countries. During her visit to a school in Xanthi, Greece, she and her classmates gave presentations about their home countries in the beautiful school library. They also saw an exhibition of Lego robots made by students and visited an archaeological museum displaying ancient artifacts. Nelita's group was excited to sit in an ancient Greek amphitheater where performances were once held. In the evening, they dined at a restaurant to experience traditional Greek cuisine.

The British Museum
- 1. This trip is for Year 3 children who would have been learning about The Stone Age as well as the Romans. The children will visit the British Museum where there is a Hoards exhibition, as well as visiting other parts of the museum looking at the Romans.
- 3. Visiting Schedule The trip will take place over half a day. • 9:30am The group leaves form school (IoE) • 10:00am The group have a presentation by a member of staff at the British Museum. Children will be able to have a Q & A session after the presentation. • 11:00am The group will be split equally. Half the group will get to explore the Hoards exhibition, while the other half look at the Roman section. • 11:30am The group switch over. • 12:00pm The group have lunch at the School & Family Lunch Room • 1:00pm The group head back to school • 1:30pm The group arrive back at school.
- 4. This is where the children have lunch and store their belongings.
- 5. In the previous lessons, children would have learnt about The Stone Age including cave paintings and Skara Brae in preparation for the Hoards exhibition at the British Museum.
