How do British films attract audiences?
British films attract audiences through different ways of marketing. They try
to target a specific audience for the genre of the film. Ex Machina was a film
that used social media to market their film. They used Tinder to make an
account for the character Ava who was made to talk to other people using the
site. Many films now use social media to promote their films as lots of people
look and use social media. By using this type of marketing, British audiences
may get attracted to films, but for worldwide viewing of marketing TV adverts
showing a trailer could be better. The American film industry can spend a lot
more money on marketing as the industry is bigger, so they can attract more
audiences.
I think the audience type that would most likely watch the
films is Mainstream plus. Lots of people would go into this
category as the films would have gained lots of viewer and
made money.
Figures from the Box
office:
Ex Machina: $37
million
The Inbetweeners
Movie 2: $63.8 million
Suffragette : £2.94
million
Attack the Block: $5.8
million
Why have a British film Industry?
The British film industry is an industry that can make a
lot of money from films with smaller budgets than
Hollywood film. This is because Britain has lower tax to
make a film than America so more films are made here
to make tax cheaper. Britain also has a wide range of
professional experienced actors and filming crew also
have many talented people which can make a film
industry better.
