Austria’s system flexibility progress is advanced, especially regarding flexibility sources (supply, demand, storage) and markets as enabler. The supply side is dominated by flexible gas power plant, clear level playing rules exists for demand side flexibility, pump storage plants are increasingly utilized is exploited and efforts for developing alternative storage options are present. Austria is advanced in sector coupling compared to neighboring countries. Grid development plans are behind schedule and redispatch cost are considerably increasing, resulting in the lowest flexibility grade in the country.

The first part of the presentations presents the energy efficiency improvements in the manufacturing sector since 2000, and the role of structural change between the different branches and energy savings. It will compare the improvements in Denmark and other countries with EU average. This part is based on ODYSSEE data.
The second part of the presentation presents the development in Denmark in more detail, and it will compare the energy efficiency improvement, corrected for structural change, with the reported savings from the Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme.

Ensuring European Energy Transition: key research and innovation actions need...Leonardo ENERGY
Konstantin Staschus and Sophie Dourlens will present the new ETIP SNET Implementation Plan (IP) 2017-2020 which is to be released on 5 October 2017
The Implementation Plan aims at listing the short-term priorities for R&I in ETIP SNET’s scope and as defined by the action 4 of the EU’s Strategic Energy Technology Plan: Increase the resilience, security and smartness of the energy system. It is based upon the ETIP-SNET R&I roadmap 2017-2026 which specifies the long-term R&I activities for the evolution of the European energy system and published in January 2017.
The Implementation Plan is the result of a long and comprehensive stakeholders consultation process which makes it widely recognised by all the European energy transition stakeholders.
About Frits Verheij
Frits Verheij has been working in the renewable energy business, and related areas, since the start of his career in 1987. Prior to joining KEMA (now DNV GL), he worked at the research organization TNO and the Dutch Energy Agency. Currently, Mr. Verheij is Director Smart Energy for DNV GL – Energy. Additionally, he is actively involved in the energy transition arena and acts as chairman of the Board of Top consortium on Knowledge & Innovation (TKI) Switch2SmartGrids, as well as a board member of the Global Smart Grid Federation and GreenIT Amsterdam. Mr. Verheij is an expert in working at the crossroads of technology, policy, strategy, and socio-economics, and has worked for governments and utilities, among other stakeholders in similar industries. He knows how to work with different views and interests of stakeholders, as well as how to manage multi-client projects, such as the Smart Energy Collective, an industrial initiative of 26 companies in the Netherlands.
Introduction to the Energy Efficiency DirectiveLeonardo ENERGY
The Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) was adopted in 2012 and is one of the EU’s four key Directives addressing energy efficiency in stationary (i.e. non transport) end-uses (the others being the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive, The Ecodesign Directive and the Energy Labelling Directive). Given that the other Directives cover the energy performance of buildings and equipment the EED is designed to address energy savings opportunities that are not readily addressed by the other Directives. It has its origin in the preceding Energy Services Directive, which was repealed when the EED was adopted. The Energy Efficiency Directive establishes a set of binding measures intended to help the EU reach its 20% energy efficiency target by 2020. Under the Directive, all EU countries are required to use energy more efficiently at all stages of the energy chain from its production to its final consumption. EU countries were required to transpose the Directive's provisions into their national laws by 5 June 2014.
The future of energy a nordic perspectiveFuture Agenda
With the combined challenges of climate change, air pollution and energy security, the opportunities from renewables and electrification are top of many a national agenda. While many are talking about changes to come and making tentative steps, in some key regions major transitions are underway. Bold ambitions are being delivered. The Nordics is one such region and its success and perspectives on the future hold lessons for many others.
Electric Vehicles - State of play and policy frameworkLeonardo ENERGY
The objective of this report is to contribute to a better understanding of the potential impact of a transition to electric vehicles (EVs) in Europe and of the barriers that currently impede the realization of this potential. The research and analysis contained in this document indicates that the EV holds enormous environmental, social and economic benefits for Europe. However, it also shows that despite some progress in the right direction, we are currently a long way from realizing it. For this potential to be unlocked to a material extent within a 2050 horizon, a series of barriers need to be surpassed through collaboration by all stakeholders. Details of these findings are provided and recommendations on how to increase EV market uptake and to leverage the potential of EV benefits are presented.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Automobile Management System Project Report.pdfKamal Acharya
The proposed project is developed to manage the automobile in the automobile dealer company. The main module in this project is login, automobile management, customer management, sales, complaints and reports. The first module is the login. The automobile showroom owner should login to the project for usage. The username and password are verified and if it is correct, next form opens. If the username and password are not correct, it shows the error message.
When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.
