An organization needs systems to address seven aspects of performance excellence: 1) customer satisfaction creation and retention, 2) human resource performance improvement and development, 3) supplier performance evaluation and development, 4) product and service performance development, 5) productivity, operational effectiveness, and responsiveness, 6) public responsibility and good citizenship, and 7) knowledge sharing, integration and innovation. To improve performance and competitiveness, an organization needs to know its own performance levels, its competitors' performance through market intelligence, and benchmark data showing how others are performing. This information should be analyzed and used to design business processes.
