2. Early Life
Brijmohan Lall Munjal was born in 1923.
At Kamalia, district Toba Tek Singh in
unpartitioned Punjab, British India.
Kamalia is now in Pakistan.
In 1944, he was settled in Amritsar along with his elder brothers.
After the partition in 1947 the Munjal family completely
shifted their base from Pakistan to Ludhiana.

3. COMPANY PROFILE
1956: Hero Cycles Limited was established.
1975: Hero Cycles Limited became the Largest
Manufacturer of Bicycles in India.
1984: Hero Honda Motors Limited was established as a
joint venture with Honda Motors of Japan, to
manufacture motorcycles.
1986: Hero Cycles Limited entered the Guinness Book of
Records.
And on 13th April 1985 the first Hero Honda Motor
bike was rolled out.

Today the company turns out one bicycle in every

Hero Cycles manufactures the widest range of
bicycles including multi-speed variants.
5. The Brand Trust Research Advisory has ranked Hero Honda
in the 13th position among the brands in India.
Munjal family and Honda group both own 26% stake
in company.
Hero Honda has three manufaturing facilities
based at Dharuhera, Gurgaon in Haryana and at
Haridwar.
These 3 plants together are capable to produce 3 million
bikes per year.
Hero Honda has large sales and services network with over 3000
Dealership and services points across India.

8. Hero pay Rs.811 crore Capital Gain Tax for buying
out their ex partner Honda from the joint venture.

In December 2010, the Board of Directors of the Hero Honda
Group decided to terminate the joint venture.
The Hero group would buy out the 26% stake i.e.(Rs.
3841.83 crore) of the Honda in joint venture.
