The Asmat are an indigenous hunter-gatherer people living in West Papua, Indonesia, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer cultures in the world. They have traditions such as nose piercing and face/body painting for ceremonies and war. However, deforestation, colonization, and assimilation are negatively impacting Asmat culture, as the modern world replaces their traditional way of life.
