The Asmat are an indigenous hunter-gatherer people living in West Papua, Indonesia, who are one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer cultures in the world; they have traditions such as nose piercing and face/body painting for ceremonies and war, but their traditional culture is threatened by deforestation, colonization and assimilation that is replacing it with modern ways of life.
