The Asmat are an indigenous hunter-gatherer people living in West Papua, Indonesia, who are one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer cultures in the world; they have traditions such as nose piercing and body painting for ceremonies and war, but their culture is being negatively impacted by deforestation, colonization, and assimilation into the modern world.
