The Asmat are an indigenous hunter-gatherer people living in West Papua, Indonesia, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer cultures in the world; they have traditions including nose piercing and body painting for ceremonies and war, but their traditional culture is threatened by deforestation, colonization and assimilation as the modern world takes over their lands.
