GPS Navigation System Example
Descriptive analytics - tell us which way to go.
Predictive analytics - tell us when we are likely to get there.
Prescriptive analytics - monitor that forecast in real time
against destination.
If it finds that another solution will be better, it will
recommend that and change your current route and take a
different route instead. It tells you what you should do.

McDonald’s bet on machine learning
In the future, your local fast food joint might know your order before you even get to
the drive-thru window.
March 2019 bought machine learning start-up Dynamic Yield for a reported $300
million and the first stop for the company's AI is the drive-thru window.
They installed AI-powered kiosks in 700 of its restaurants during an initial trial period. The
menus are capable of suggesting menu items that sell best depending on the time of day,
the weather, or that are currently trending.
The system, "Personalisation Anywhere“, also looks at factors data, such as the weather,
traffic etc, at the restaurant to optimize menu displays at drive-thru windows. It might, for
instance, promote the McFlurry or iced coffees on hot days.
And the system constantly learns.
