This document discusses frameworks for understanding the African personality from an Africentric perspective. It argues that there is an African reality system that is distinct from European worldviews. The average African operates from a state of mental disorder under current conditions because they have been cut off from their African cultural roots. To heal, Africans must rebuild their cultural infrastructure, reclaim their African identity and worldview, and develop institutions grounded in African culture and history. The document outlines traits of African personality such as emotional expressiveness, spirituality, communal orientation, and use of proverbs. It argues for an Africentric approach to analyzing personality that emphasizes African norms rather than viewing African traits as abnormal.
