These terms indicate that no society can be formed
without people because society covers the people.

What is Common Good?
according to the Catechism,
following Pope John XXIII in Mater et
Magistra and Vatican II, defines the
common good as: “the sum total of
social conditions which allow
people, either as groups or as
individuals, to reach their fulfillment
more fully and more easily.”
Elements of Common Good
The Catechism notes three essential
elements of the common good:
respect for the individual, the social
well-being and development of the
group, and peace which results from
the stability of a just society.

What is an
Ideal
Society?
In the modern Western sense, an
enlightened society is a populace
of men, women and children who,
as a collective, desire to express
their humanity, work, aspirations,
spirituality, art, poetry and play
with the richest possible diversity.
A society where one’s sexual
preference or gender is not a
judgement upon your character
and the color of your skin says
nothing about you other than
perhaps your geographical
place of birth.
A society where freedom of
expression is guaranteed but
limited only by the innate
moral personal decency of the
individual.
A society where the
health and welfare of all
is sacrosanct and access
to treatment is
guaranteed.
Every part of society, when you
think about it, has been
indoctrinated with a nefarious
“me first” attitude that has seen the
common good almost vanish.
The Challenge
People need to wake up to
the fact that government
affects every part of their
life (other than what they
do in bed) and should be
more interested.
If everyone is moving
forward together, then
success takes care of
itself. – Henry Ford
