When sex leads to romantic feelings, it can awaken previous unmet emotional needs from past relationships. These unconscious needs drive the current relationship without awareness of their influence. Recovering addicts need time alone to address their own issues before entering relationships to avoid being controlled by emotions.

Morality: Logical or Emotional?
Lawrence Kohlberg argued that we should evaluate moral reasoning on the basis of the reasons people give for a decision rather than the decision itself.
Limitations of Kohlberg’s approach:
Ordinarily, people make quick moral decisions intuitively and emotionally, rather than reasoning them out logically.
Kohlberg assumed that all moral decisions are based on seeking justice and avoiding harm to others; however, most of the world’s people also consider such matters as group loyalty, respect for authority, and spiritual purity.

Psychologists once regarded morality as a set of arbitrary rules, like learning to stop at a red light and go at a green light. Lawrence Kohlberg proposed instead that moral reasoning is a process that matures through a series of stages, similar to Piaget’s stages of cognitive development.
According to Kohlberg, to evaluate people’s moral reasoning, we should ask about the reasons for their decisions, not just about the decisions themselves.
Kohlberg focused psychologists’ attention on the reasoning processes behind moral decisions, but people usually don’t deliberate about right and wrong before they act. More often, they make a quick decision and then look for reasons afterward.
In addition to the fact that most moral decisions are more emotional rather than logical, Kohlberg’s analysis falls short in another way.
Also, many people, especially in non-Western cultures, base their moral decisions on factors Kohlberg ignored, including loyalty, authority, and purity.

Altruistic Behavior
Altruistic behavior – helping others without a benefit to ourselves

People want a reputation for being fair and helpful.
People who do cooperate punish those who don’t.

While humans sometimes engage in prosocial or altruistic behavior—helping others without a benefit to ourselves—altruism is uncommon in other animal species. In almost every species, animals devote great energies and risk their lives to help their babies or other relatives. But they seldom do much to help unrelated individuals.
One explanation for altruistic behavior is that cooperating builds a reputation, and a reputation requires individuals to recognize one another. The other explanation is that people who cooperate will punish those who do not. Again, to retaliate, they need to recognize who has failed to cooperate.

In many situations, if abuse can not be seen on the outside, it's ignored, considered a lie, made up, or even a psychosis of some sort. People ignore the abuse that causes damage on the inside. Which sadly ends up hurting more than the wounds you can see on the outside. Many become substance abuse users and, even worse, commit suicide. Emotional damage is much more challenging to see and treat, yet it gets the least attention. Victims get ignored and even made to feel worse by the victim-blaming mentality of the patriarch. "Oh, she's suffering from menopause, or mental illness runs in her family." The sad thing is that the majority of society believes this.
What you are about to read is my struggle, my story. My husband believed that if I were not bruised, beaten, or broken on the outside, it wasn't abuse. He thought he was a good father and a good man because he paid for everything. When I say everything, I mean everything and everyone. He had several other children with others within 27 years of marriage. But he was still a good person because he paid for his people.
For many years, I suffered in silence. I covered my pain in alcohol, and what I thought was "self-care" was me licking my wounds and putting on that fake smile and fake dressed-up kids to present to the world.
No one believed me when I finally became sick of it and wanted out. Not even the courts, not the law, not my momma, no one. I couldn't even get into a women's shelter. The judges gave me temporary restraining orders because my evidence was not substantial. I played such a good part in solidifying my husband's facade that no one believed, supported, acknowledged, or even cared.
The moral of the story. . . . don't pretend. Live the truth because, in the end, you're only hurting yourself on top of the hurt you've already experienced. You deserve better! I deserve better! That said, please read the signs, memorize the signs, and get help NOW. The sooner, the better.

Causes may include biological factors, learning from environment, and early sexual experiences. Treatment involves medical approaches like anti-androgens and anti-psychotics, as well as behavioral therapies like victim identification, covert conditioning, and aversion therapy.

Clearly, some of these behaviors, such as fantasy sex, occur in healthy sexual relationships, while others, such as exploitative sex, are highly problematic in any context. 1 Fantasy Sex Fantasy sex is a preoccupying obsession with sexual fantasy, rather than the reality of genuine sexual feelings, sexual behavior, and sexual relationships. It can prevent you from developing genuine loving feelings based on accepting others the way they really are.
- 2. 2 Seductive Role Sex Seductive sex focuses on charming, persuading or manipulating others into sexual contact. You treat your prospective partner as a "conquest" or a challenge to make yourself feel more powerful. 3 Anonymous Sex Anonymous sex is having sex with strangers, including one night stands youfind on Tinder. Anonymous sex helps the addict avoiddeveloping genuine loving feelings. 4 Paying for Sex Paying for sex also inhibits genuine connection, because of the implied business arrangement. The person you pay is looking for financial gain, not a loving relationship. 5 Trading Sex The other side of the paying-for-sex transaction is receiving money or goods for sex or using sex as a business. Sex becomes a commodity, rather than a personal experience, and the emotional connection diminishes. 6 Voyeuristic Sex Voyeuristic sex focuses on watching others engage in sexual activity. You get sexually aroused by looking at pornography from: books and magazines the computer and films peep-shows

They engage in solitary activities, rather than connecting with another person, ensuring intimacy and love are not an option. 7 Exhibitionistic Sex Exhibitionist sex includes flashing "forbidden" body parts in public, sometimes while wearing clothes designed to expose. Other forms of exhibitionist sex include posing for pornographic pictures and having sex where others can see. Exhibitionism can override genuine loving connections because the excitement comes from the reaction, not from the sexual contact with your partner. 8 Intrusive Sex Intrusive sex involves touching others without permission. It may involve abusing your position of power or authority, such as the role of priest, supervisor or teacher, to sexually exploit others. Intrusive sex is inherently exploitative, making it impossible to form the basis for trust or love. Victims may experience feelings of loyalty towards the perpetrator. 9 Pain Exchange The giving or receiving of pain, also known as sadomasochism or S&M, is a type of sexually addictive behavior in which the consenting participants associate pain with sexual pleasure. As with intrusive sex, victims may perceive their feelings towards their torturer as loving. 10 Exploitative Sex Rape and pedophilia are types of exploitative sex. Because one person violates the human rights of the other, there is no possibility for genuine love or intimacy.
