Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States, Canada, some Caribbean islands and Liberia, with the US and Canada celebrating on different dates. It originated from a 1621 harvest feast shared between English colonists and Wampanoag Native Americans to give thanks for survival and help during the colony's first winter. Abraham Lincoln established it as a national holiday in 1863 to be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Typical Thanksgiving traditions include a family dinner, watching American football games, and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
