WHAT IS A TEAM?
According to Katzenbach and Smith (1993) a
team can be defined as:
A small number of people with complementary
skills who are committed to a common purpose,
performance goals, and approach for which they
are mutually accountable.

4. The Multidisciplinary Team
A multidisciplinary team is a type of team that
is especially, where individuals with a range of
expertise and skills work together to plan, deliver
and monitor health and social care with a
particular patient or a group of patients.

6. The Individual Roles Of The Multidisciplinary Team In
Work Area
In a secondary care setting, may be discharging
a patient home but require the services of a
community nurse. Each person in the team needs
to have an understanding of each other’s role to
actively participate and to feel valued.
It is often the nurse who takes the lead in co-
ordinating the patient’s health care by using good
communication to provide a holistic care package
for the patient.
