As I walked down the brightly lit corridor of the hotel, I approached room that was written down on
the bit of paper I was holding. I knocked carefully and a few seconds later the door opened and I was
welcomed in by a young, well dressed woman, she ushered me in and asked if I wanted anything to
drink. I kindly accepted and she walked off, I looked around, it was so tidy and clean, everything had
its own place, nothing like what I had imagined two 19 year old girls to live in. They had defiantly
come along way, I remember seeing pictures of the care home they both lived at when they were
younger, this room was the size of the whole ground floor, in a way I felt proud. The lady handed me
a glass of water and took me down a long lit corridor, I wondered if it always looked like this. I
walked into a beautifully decorated room and sat down on the chair and set out all of my equipment
ready for the girls to come in.
I was so worried, I didn’t know what they were going to be like; they had a reputation in the
business for being mischievous and sometimes difficult, and recently they were dropped from their
label and were resigned. A few seconds later I heard giggling from down the hall and the doors
opened, the two girls walked straight over to me. We hugged and they sat down on the sofa
opposite me. They both looked different, natural, and more comfortable. I was so used to seeing
them in their skimpy outfits with a tonne of makeup on dancing around the stage, to see them like
this was refreshing. To be honest I didn’t know what I expected but it defiantly wasn’t this, I was
shocked, but in a good way, was this the real Paige and Daniella? They were sitting on the sofa with
their dark makeup swapped for non-what’s so ever, and their chains and leather jackets swapped for
big boyfriend tops and ripped jeans with big hoodies and beanies. They looked so at home.
We sat for a while and we discussed ideas that we had for the shoot, the girls loved my ideas and
they had some great ideas themselves. They were so refreshing, I loved how they were getting
involved it made the job more fun for everyone and overall makes the experience much more
exciting. The more I talked to them the more I realised everything that everyone thinks about these
girls isn’t true at all, which got me thinking. This is what I wanted to capture with this shoot and
interview, I wanted to get rid of their bad reputation. I shared my idea with the girls and they loved
it. So we decided to make it about them and their childhood and just bringing out the youth in them,
showing everyone who they really are.
