word “terror” which means great fear, dread or
to frighten.
“Terrorism is the calculate use or threat of unlawful
violence to inculcate fear. It is intended to coerce or to
intimidate governments or societies or to attain
political, ideological or religious goals”
(-US ARMY MANUAL)
Types Of Terrorism
 Civil Disorder
Power, food, energy crisis and lawlessness.
 Political Terrorism
Corrupt incompetent governments. Provincial and ethnic hatred. Democracy of the corrupt
and compromised.
 Economic Terrorism
Economic collapse through corruption and financial controls.
 Official or State Terrorism
State Sponsored terror attacks to attain political objectives, often as a part of foreign policy.
 Media & Information War
PAKISTAN
A beautiful land of 180 million Muslims, & 1.5 million non-Muslims,
coastlines, mountains, rivers, lakes and the only ideological Islamic nuclear
state in the world.
A country with finest armed forces and great human resource, economic,
agricultural and industrial potential.
Pakistan used to be a very beautiful place where peace and
harmony prevailed
Foreign Tourists used to visit our Northern areas to explore the
natural beauty & for mountaineering purposes.
Our Culture, Music, traditions, taste and cuisine were famous all
round the globe.
BUT THEN

Political
Causes
 Supporting US-war against Soviet Union(1980)
Creation of Taliban, Kalashnikov culture, Extremism.
 9/11 attacks(2001)
Becoming the part of foreign game.
 Drone Attacks (2004-2015)
Started during Musharraf Regime,
 Foreign Involvement (CIA,RAW,MOSSAD & MI-5)
Support to Political parties like ANP, MQM, Involvement in major terror attacks,
funding of terrorist organizations.
 Laal Mosque Operation(2007)
Hundreds of seminary students & 10 army men were killed.
 Re-Emerging of Talibans
Taliban re-emerged considering Pakistan to be the ally of America.
Other Causes of Terrorism
 Negligence of government towards sectarian issue.
Govt put a blind eye on such a burning issue, killings due to the sectarian hate is
the result of poor govt policy.
 Weak judicial system & judiciary.
Complete Failure of Civil Courts in delivering justice, not a single terrorist was
hanged by the civil courts.
 Culture of Feudalism in Pakistan.
Zamindars own 32% of cultivated land in Pakistan, suppressed community often
rises violently against this injustice leading to extremism in the society.
 Religious Seminaries
Spreading hatred on sectarian basis.

National Action Plan
(Established by the Government of Pakistan in January, 2015)
 Intelligence agencies had arrested 150 people
 Froze a number of accounts,Rs 10.2 billion
 Boundary walls of all schools up to 8 feet (2.4 m) and topping them with 2 feet
(0.61 m) high razor wire.
 PTA has verified more than 70 million SIM’s and 11 million were blocked.
 law enforcement agencies arrested 32,347 people on different charges in 28,826
operations.
FORMATION OF MILITARY COURTS
 As of September 2015, Pakistan has executed
239 death row prisoners
Attention of Government towards Sectarian Issue
 Operation Against all political party militant wings
 Arrest of RAW agents from different areas of city.
 Raid on 90(MQM-headquarter)
 Hanging of Saulat Mirza
Return Of Afghan Migrants
55,000 Afghan refugees expelled between January
and March 23, 2015.
Conclusion
• Pakistan is a peace loving nation & playing it’s important role in combating terror.
• Pakistan has sacrificed the most in ongoing war on terror.
• Unfortunately, sometimes it’s commitment is doubted by some of it’s allies.
• Mistrust can lead to diversion of all efforts which will not be beneficial to the
common objectives of the peace in the region.
• Pakistan is responsible nation; fully capable of defending its territorial integrity.
• We are hopeful that terrorism will end up till the end of the next year.
