This document outlines the methodology and content for a History of Philosophy class. It will cover major philosophers from ancient Greece like Plato and Aristotle, medieval thinkers such as Augustine and Aquinas, and modern philosophers including Descartes, Locke, Hume, Kant, Marx and Nietzsche. The class will use conceptual maps and require students to complete mandatory and optional commentary assignments. Students' notes will be evaluated through exams consisting of texts and contextual and thematic questions about the authors and topics.
