The Winter's Tale is about King Leontes of Sicilia who becomes consumed with jealousy and wrongly believes that his wife Hermione and his childhood friend Polixenes have committed adultery. He imprisons Hermione and abandons their newborn daughter Perdita. Hermione dies of grief, but is later resurrected by Paulina. Perdita is rescued and raised by a shepherd. Sixteen years later, Perdita meets and falls in love with Florizel, who is revealed to be the son of Polixenes. Leontes realizes his mistake and is reunited with Perdita, leading to forgiveness and reconciliation.
