As capital captures a larger share of production through rising profits, wage levels fall and consumption must be sustained through increasing amounts of debt to keep profits high. This rising debt can only be repaid through more debt and wage slavery, inevitably leading to economic crisis. The source of crisis is the pursuit of profit, which exploits labor. The document argues that the way out of crisis is to eliminate wage labor and produce and share resources differently through co-operatives, collectives, and peer-to-peer networks as a path to a more equal society.
