Group dynamics and collaboration are important aspects of learning. Three key points:
1) A group is defined as individuals who interact frequently, influence each other, and work towards a common goal. Successful groups have cohesion, norms, and the right size.
2) Scripting provides rules to structure collaboration and can enhance knowledge construction if tasks are authentic. Scripts define roles, interaction, and schedules. However, results are mixed on their effects.
3) Tightly structured models with problem-based tasks may enhance learning more than loose scripts by promoting deeper discussion and a shared understanding. Functional roles and jigsaw scripts can also improve collaboration over loose structures.
