This paper compares some of the impedance and quasi - impedance source inverter (qZSI) topologies for photovoltaic applications namely, switched coupled inductor qZSI, switched ZSI, enhanced-boost quasi ZSI with continuous and discontinuous source current topologies, enhanced -boost active qZSI, switched-boost ZSI and high gain switched boost inverter. The parameters taken for comparison are voltage gain, boost factor, voltage, and current stresses on the components etc. Based on the comparison, the high gain switched boost ZSI is found to have high voltage gain along with reduced voltage and current stress. The review will be useful for researchers working in impedance source inverter network.

Circuit-based method for extracting the resistive leakage current of metal ox...
Resistive leakage current based condition assessment of metal oxide surge arrester (MOSA) is one of the most extensively employed technique to monitor its degradation. An extraction method is customarily required to extract the resistive component from the total leakage current. The existing methods to extract the resistive current are complex and less accurate. Therefore, this paper describes a simple and accurate circuit-based method to extract the resistive current using equivalent model and measured leakage current of the arrester. The accuracy of the proposed method is validated through experimental results on ABB’s 120 kV surge arrester, EMTP and QuickField software simulations. The performance of the method is also analyzed and verified experimentally on 72, 180 and 240 kV rated ABB’s surge arresters. The obtained results of resistive leakage current have shown the maximum error of 0.001%. Simple and easier computational steps with higher accuracy are the key benefits of the proposed technique.

The review can help researchers selecting impedance source inverter topologies.

A series circuit is a circuit in which resistors are arranged in a chain, so the current has only one path to take. The current is the same through each resistor.
Circuit 2
This circuit uses capacitive reactance to limit current flow through ultra-bright white LEDs when mains voltage is applied. A series resistor avoids heavy inrush current during transients while a MOV protects from surges. A rectifier and filter capacitor provide DC voltage to rows of LEDs, with current limited by capacitive reactance calculated based on mains frequency, capacitance, current, and voltage. Combinations of 16 or more LEDs can provide light equivalent to 12W or 35W bulbs with minimal power consumption.
