• The Next Step is about a dance school, with lots of teenage students.
• There are lots of different level classes which becomes the topic of multiple arguments
throughout the series.
• The show spreads the illusion that all teenagers cause and participate in arguments, and resolve these arguments
through dance battles.
• They attempt to make the show realistic but, it is actually very stereotypical.
• In The Next Step there is a typical popular group, made up of girls who think they are better than everyone else.
• The Next Step go up against different dance studios to compete, and sometimes there is sabotage.

• High School Musical is a unrealistic, stereotypical version of high school, which creates a unrealistic expectation in kids’
heads of what high school will be like.
• Again, there is stereotypical friendship groups e.g. The mean girls, the geeks and the jocks.
• This movie created lots of children‘s expectations of high school life.
• Troy is made out to be the typical jock, who is popular and every girl likes.

• The Dumping Ground portrays children in care homes in a bad light.
• The children are demonstrated to be angry, self centred and irresponsible.
• Once again, there is an expected emo/goth group, a tomboy and mean girls.
• There are not many nice/genuine people in the home suggesting the children are bad.
• In The Dumping Ground there are many children with special needs e.g. Autism and anger issues.
• Despite this the Dumping Ground shows that all kids are different and unique.

• In The Kissing Booth there is a stereotypical pair of best friends, who have been friends since childhood
and have a set of rules which they have created.
• They are classic teens who do silly things, such as jumping off of roofs into pools, and being reckless.
• Elle portrays bad behaviour by coming into school with an extremely short skirt.
• Also there is a lot of physical fights which displays the teenage stereotype of being ruff, and irresponsible.

• Tracy Beaker the tv series is a great teenage stereotype .
• Tracy beaker is always angry , this is a common stereotype that is aimed at teenagers when actually they are not angry
all the time.
• Tracy Beaker is a lonely person who lost her mum and believes she is a movie star.
• Like the Dumping Ground, all the kids are described to be rude, aggressive and fight often.
