1.0 INTRODUCTION
Teenage mom are kids/teenage in the age within 13-19, which is occured to girls who haven’t
completed their core education (secondary school), have few or no marketable skills, financially
dependant to their parents and mentally immature. A pregnancy could occur after the start of puberty
before the menstrual period but usually occurs after the onset of peiods. Incidents that occur to teen
mom are normally accidental or under acknowledgement.This report is evolved of teenage mom and
their part of the world story based on our group survey and findings through online research,television
shows and article reviews. A group talk show was presented for this topic entitled ( Teen Mom )
within group members on 8th of November 2014.
In most developed countries, teenage pregnancies are often associated with social issues,
educational levels, socioeconomics, culture and son on. The surrounding environment too could lead
to be reasons of teen mom issues rising. Teenage pregnancies are not always good nor bad, all have its
pros and cons. A life of teenage is not only about the teen mom and her child. It is also involving the
teen mom’s parents,her spouse if she have one and mainly people’s view of them. This is the main
reason of the report. To show what teen mom is and what evolves around their world too.

2.0 Literature Review
2.1 General View
When people, more to say civilian like us read, heard or see anything related to teenage mom, we
intend to discriminate them without knowing the whole side of the story. There are many teen moms
throughout the world, some known to the eyes of the world like Madison Godsey, 16 years old girl
with a kid of her own and some are still wishing and hoping to acknowledge the reality world with less
harm to them and the new soul they brought to the world. Less people and websites encouraged nor
help them to workout their fear of handling reality in such young age.
2.2 Social Helps
3 out of 10 teen in America gets pregnant at least once before age 20, which meant nearly 750,000
teen pregnancies every year and 2000 a day (DoSomething.org). Teen girls have a hard time suppoting
their babies and it could cost nearly 10,000 in the first year alone. Websites or more to page like
Chicago Tribune and Baltimore Sun does help teen mom like them. They post articles of young teen
mom handling their life. Not only that, Chicago Tribunes lend hand to help them from facing the
outside world. Not everyone have the heart or space to help another person but many organisations
helped teen mom, organisations such as Casey Foundation, Kaiser Foundation and so on. They intend
to help teen moms that are neglected by society and some by family too. Not only they help in
financial and social ways,but there are also clubs formed for them such as Babysitters Club which
nurtures them in taking care og their kids. Encouragement from social medias are good and bad
somehow. Discrimination from people towards teenage moms could be serious at times.
2.3 Media
Medias could be disalarming at times. They could prohibit good and exxagerate bad behaviour and
vice verse. It all depends on the criteria of person watching it. Dr.Phil, a researcher claimed that
today’s pop culture celebrates teen pregnancies, with stars of MTV’s Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant
glamorizing in magazine covers when teen pregnancies are issues that should be taken serious when
Us is highest in teen pregnancies. It is also said that Amber, the star of MTV’s Teen Mom revealed in
court proceedings that she make approximately $280,000 per year. All this leads to misdirection that
teen pregnancies are actually good.
2.4 Education
Teen mom’s are teenage kids still in their early education and when they got pregnant, circumstances
happen and most couldn’t pursue their education back then. Only 51 percent of teen mom actually
pursued their education meanwhile the number of those who didn’t have a teen birth is closer to 89
percent. Teen moms need their parent support in order to ammend their mistake made in their young

teenage period. Without help and guidance of them, only 2 percent of teen mom did went to continue
their higher education degree. Education level for teen mom is collapsing as it is.
2.5 Sex Education
Sex education should be applied in each school and teachers/counselors should have time to be aware
and monitor teenage’s behavioral too. Not only school and teachers do their part but parents and
family too. Researchers proved that parents have no ideas of starting a conversation without any
misunderstanding or misdirection and imply that parents too should have sex education direction in
order to monitor their kids and guide them when they need help. In that way,teenagers won’t feel shy
or afraid to have a talk regarding it. It is also proved that, with no teaching of contraceptives in school,
teens are unguarded towards sex they apply in their teen period. Half of teenagers don’t knew that oral
sex is also sex and it is a responsible for adults as parents,siblings and teachers to help them. When
they have none to look back to or to rely on to, teen mom’s intend to take negatives ways too such as
drugs, mislead in life, suicide and so on.
2.6 Suicides
Depression could lead to many negative impacts. When it comes to suicide, the suicide rate among
teen mothers is seven times higher than their peers’ rate. Many researchersclaim that mental
healthdisorders such as particularly depression and substance abuse are associated with morethan 90
percent of all cases.
2.7 Love no Boundaries
Researchers dont blame girls only for teen pregnancies but boys too. Boys play tricks in the name of
love claimed a researcher in United Kingdom. He said so because girls are more into the emotional
side and easily provoked in the name of love. Sex won’t make a boy stay, not even a baby could make
a boy stay. Eight out of ten fathers of teen pregnancy cases do not marry the mother of their child. For

2.8 Family Guidance and Support
Teen mom mostly stand alone with no guidance or help. Families should be able provide personal
counseling options and educational resources,financial assistance and so on. Not only that, parents
should be able to recognize the appropriate centre for their teenage kid and start planning steps to a
brighter future. Supporting groups such as MOPS are equipped to provide resources on taking care of
baby, tips and counseling. If a daughter in the family turns out to be a teen mom, there are higher
possibilities that it could influence the rest anyhow.

4.0 Conclusion
Each person have their own perspective and point of view based on teen mom issues rising throughout
the world. Some agrees and some don’t. All we want to point is that everything is based on how it is
seen in the eyes of people. Teen moms are vigilant, they need love and attention no matter how or
what mistakes they did in the past, they are still teenagers. Mistakes are meant to be learnt and its is
nurtured that humans bound to make mistakes. Rather than pointing people and their fault in this issue,
it is better to make good choices on how to raise the teen mom’s child and the teen mom herself. If the
society and family could be less judgemental, it would be easy for mistakes to be ammended. What we
felt from surveys is that, we should put ourselves in their shoes instead of discriminating their way of
living life.

I’m just a nobody with a doctoring major in psychology. Teen moms are teenagers under the age of
13-19 which are misleaded in their life in terms of sex, boys and pregnancy. My point of view is that
teen moms are not all guilty as it seemed. They are just kids/teens with lack of knowledge of sex
education, get misused in the name of love, and some are eager for love because of their bad
background of lack love from family and abuse too. Some teen moms have went through rough times
throughout their childhood. Some got abused, ignored, not being cared and some even mistreated by
own family members. Teen moms need extra love and attention. Without love and attention, they
intend to seek love in either good nor bad ways. That is why when a boy mislead their relationship of
having sex in the name of love, teenage girls fall for it without knowing the consequences.
Girls need to know the consequences in order to avoid pregnancies in teen. For that, sex education
should be alarmed in each school throughout worldwide. If sex education is not giving reflection as
predicted, abstinence education should be taught too. With that, teenagers can make changes in their
life. For that, I wouldn’t blame only the teen but their parents too for not parenting their kids in a
mannered way or other. Imagine a small kid giving birth to another kid, it takes big courage to give
birth and handle another kid at such young age. Parents shouldn’t abandon their kids when they need
them the most. They should be there to give their help emotionally and financially for their kid
regardless their mistakes. If parents are not being helpful towards their kids, who else their kids could
turn back to when society and everyone turned back at them.
When it comes to society, they could be brutal and judgemental too. Social medias plays an important
role here. Their perspective and point of view might hurt and make teen mom’s feeldepressed of their
actions in the past. I believe everyone deserves second choice as no one is a saint or sinner. Mistakes
are meant to be learnt and when teen moms are willing to repent for the mistakes they did intentionally
or unintentionally, society should be able to forgive and accept. It could be their daughter, son or
family member one day so less judgement leads to less good life.
Based on the talk show and surveys conducted throughout this report, i felt that not only teen mom’s
should be blamed but society and family. I agree that teen moms are not guilty as it seems and deserve
another chanve to improve their life as well as their baby.

Hi I’m a civilian, teen mom issue is a social issue that is not favourable to me personally and this
social sickness has to be attend-to by rooting out the problem and to find a solution by any means
necessary to reduce the teenage mom pregnancy rate in this society. Usually those who support to such
an idea saying “It’s alright to become a teen mom by your own choice, it’s your free will.” to the
teenage girl, will turn out to be the hypocrite themselves by teasing or making fun on the foolishness
of the teenage girl in inviting this trouble. Whereas those hypocrites are the one who promote this idea
but didn’t lift a finger to help when the teen mom needed help, end up have to let other teen mom
sympathizers to care for the teen moms by tending to their problem and provide emotional support so
that those teen mom can walk out of the shadow of shame cause by their foolishness by trusting
others.
My perspective on the teen mom is despite all the negative things that plague the teen moms in the
society, they are still foolish and ignorant enough to brush those negative thing aside and thought to
themselves, “The other teen mom have their problem is their own business, whereas my boyfriend
loving me deeply and I trust him with all my heart, perhaps I can be a teen mom without much issue if
I were to become one?”. With this thought and their own naive logic they have found themselves in a
very undesirable state where they will wish they’ve never have done such act that will cause them to
become pregnant, bearing all the physical abuses, shame, guilt, anger, abandonment and other
emotional scars that they wish never fall on them. The boyfriend that once “took care and loving
them” have vanish into thin air and let them to rot by themselves, their boyfriend left them to bear all
the insult from their peers, friend, family and society at large. Worst still, a pregnant teen or the teen
mom found themselves restricted with their freedom, no longer able to do the things that teens will do
naturally as they have to took care of their toddler or child, having no time to continue their studies
properly that will resulting them to drop-out from the high school or college that’ll affect their future
employment opportunity greatly.
The rise of teen mom rate of pregnancy bred to the rise of other social issue as well, the rise of
abortion rate, baby abandonment rate, child with single parent rate and poverty rate. Not only that, it
also gave rise to a whole new generation of irresponsible society especially the men, since they don’t
have to be responsible for the pregnancy because they’re not married to the girl that they’ve
impregnate. Not only did they abandon the girl they’ve impregnate, they still have the guts to find
other girls and causing them trouble later.
The media especially the movies from Hollywood is partly to be blamed, for promoting that those
young couple who didn’t commit themselves are the one who’ll enjoy their life as if it’s like heaven on
earth, while the married couples are always old, grumpy and angry with each other to the point almost
suffocating each other. Such a scene not only create false images to the young one, but have lead them

to belief such a lie and cause them to adopt such this junk lifestyle in their own life, and causing much
trouble later on. But of course, sometimes our prejudice against the teen mom can be unjustifiable,
there are teen girls who became teen mom not of their own choice and willingness, such as the rape
victims, or those who have been married off when they’re in their teen age because their family is very
poor.
Lastly, the teen mom issue have to be taken seriously by society if we’re to protect our child’s future
by not letting them fall into this trap that caused so many family breakdown and suffering to those
closed to them, children no matter teenage boy or girl will have to be taught to love themselves
enough for them to resist such a temptation, and also be taught to be a responsible person in life. With
this, the future will be bright for the teens to live on and contribute to the society and country as
well and remember, “You can't build a great building on a weak foundation. You must have a
solid foundation if you're going to have a strong superstructure.” quote by Gordon B.
Hinckley. That means, country with a lot of social issues will not be able to progress and the
weak people will not be able to support or care for others since they have to be taken care off.

Hi, I am a teen mom. Teen mom is the girl who gets pregnancy before age of 20th. They get
pregnant before their married. In my perception as teen mom becoming mother is not an easy
role to handle, especially if age of under 20th. Teenage time is time to enjoy their life with
family and friends and its time to focus on their studies as well but teen mom was face a lot of
problems is this age. They didn’t choose this teen mom life for their self but their force to
push in this life. During in school they will friends with wrong person or fall in love with
wrong person because in that age they don’t know to decide which is right and wrong so they
also close their eyes and follow with their friends or their loved one. They love a guy who not
suitable for their life at all and have sex with them and get pregnant. Some girls follow their
friends and took alcohol or drugs and involve in wrong activity such as sex. When they took
drugs or alcohol they will totally change and they didn’t know what they are doing at the
moment. So in that time so boys took advantage and misuse the girl.
Teen mom will face a lot of problem when they are pregnant and after they gave birth.
During their pregnancy they physically stress. A woman body will grow when she is teenager
until the age of 20th or 21th. So during teenager time she couldn’t have energy to carrying a
baby. Because carrying a child is not an easy and need to puts a lot of physical strain on a
woman’s body. This can be even more harmful for a teenage girl, due to her physical middle
age level. Beside that they also insult by his friends and society. It’s very hard to hang out
with friends after having baby. Because some friends decide they don’t want to hang out with
their friends who having a baby. They feel ashamed when they going out with the teen mom
friend. So in this situation teen mom have to loss his friends.
Apart from this, teen moms facing a big problem it was stopped their studies until they gave
birth. They cannot focus or concentrate on their studies during their pregnant because they
will suffer by the pain. If her family supports her means the girl can continue her further
studies. If their family avoid or didn’t support her means she couldn’t continue her studies so
she has to stop her studies. A teen mom can’t survive her whole with a baby without parent’s
supports. But most the parents will support their daughter because they didn’t do that
purposely and their situation pulls them into that life.

Teen mom another problem is lack of finance. She cannot find found money for her daily
expenses and also her baby’s. If her parents support her means they will spent money for her
and her baby’s daily usage if their parents didn’t support her means she have work and find
money for her. Most of the teen mom didn’t get a good job because they don’t have education
qualification. Most of the teen mom prefers to work in shopping malls with low salary to
survive. Teen mom who with their parents supports will work in higher position because they
successfully finished their studies. So they can be good mom for her kid in future.
Conclusion is in my perception parents should be close with their children especially during
their teen age. Because during that time they have to face a lot of problems and they will meet
new people so parents have to advise them with who they should talk and what they shouldn’t
do during their teenage time. They also teach them how to recognize as a boy with bad
intension and how to avoid her self from that kind of people. So from this the girl will know
how to friend with a guy friends and what she shouldn’t do with a guy before married.

Hi, I am mother of a teen mom. When I discovered my daughter already pregnant with a child, I
was shocked, disappointed and heart-broken. My instant reaction was “how stupid and
irresponsible” she is, what a massive mistake she has made and she has ruined her life”. I realized
these words would be best unsaid at this moment. This is really not the time for blame and
exclamations of my disappointment. My anger and frustration was vent on my husband. My
daughter was probably scared to death that I will react badly and continues tell how stupid and
irresponsible she is.
When I interact with my daughter, I try to restrain the disappointment that I feel and support her
through this crisis time. This conversation might be best saved when both of us are calm and have
had time to process this new information. It has now become a family issue and my involvement is
important to handle and make amends with my daughter so that this would not drive her further
away. I assured her that I will be with her side and support her during this critical time until she
gives birth.
Firstly, I need to understand how she is feeling right now. I must let her know that I am with her in
any circumstances that she is going through. This will give her space to walk through what
happened and how she feels about it. This will give her the opportunity to cry, vent and allows her
fears to come out. It will give valuable information so that I won’t jump to conclusions. As a
mom, I will choose to use this time bond with my daughter, by telling her what pregnancy is like.
It is critical for me to help her understand the feelings she going to have, the changes taking place
in her body and the anticipation of being a mother. I will need to assure her for not having an
abortion if she is planning to as she is very young and making quick decisions might not be the
best thing to do. Young minds don’t have experienced of knowing what life can be like as an adult.
This will give me chance to give her some honest advice but try not to be condescending with the
information.
To conclude this, I will make commitment to my daughter that we are going through this with her
and she will not go through alone to have the baby. There are times, carefree teen might seem
immature and want to do silly teenage things and I need not use this as an excuse to vent my
frustration on her suitability to be a mother. It is hard to accept my daughter is pregnant, let alone
be happy about it. As a parent, I assure her that she receives my support before and after the
delivery. The responsibility to take care the baby will be under my supervision so that she
continues with her further studies and lend her to better career opportunities.

Hello, I’m a father of a teen mom. What I know about a teen mom is my daughter has
become a young mother and get pregnancy at the age before 20 years old. As a father, I have
just learned that my daughter is having a baby, and her age is just 18 years old, I am
experiencing a wide of emotions, from shock and disappointment to grief and worry about her
future. I love my daughter, although she is a teen mom, I will recognize my feelings and work
through the so that I can accept and support my daughter.
First of all, what do I know about my child is a good daughter because she face the
problems to become a teen mom. The problems is she have so many questions, like “how I
going to do this?” and “what do I have to offer?” but, I can say that she don’t have anything.
The only one thing that she has is love. Therefore, Love is her deepest desire that caused my
daughter to take up the role as a young mother. The value of love is the most important thing
for a teen mom,she can love her child until the child grow up. Thus, as a teen mom just truly
love your kids and be the best mom that you can be.
Secondly, as a father, I need to think about my own level of involvement and
commitment and discuss it with my daughter. Such as, how much supportand financial
support that I willing and able to offer? Will my daughter and her child live with me? Will I
need to help to pay for food, clothing, doctor visits, and necessary items like a car seat and
stroller? Can I assist with childcare while my daughter at school and/or work? A social
worker or counsellor can help me and my daughter sort through some of these issues.
If at all possible, it's best for girls who are pregnant to finish school so they can get
better jobs and create a better life for themselves and their babies. This is no easy task for
60% to 70% of all pregnant teens drop out of school. And going back after quitting is
especially hard, so I will try to offer my daughter the support she needs to stay in school, both
she and the baby will benefit. I will check for school and community programs that offer
special services for teen mothers, such as childcare, transportation, or tutoring.

Moreover, I will help my daughter to understand that as rewarding as having a child is,
it isn't always fun, and caring for a baby is a huge responsibility and a lifelong commitment. I
also will prepare her for the reality that she won't have as much time for the things she used to
do, so that her life is about change and the baby will take priority.
In the conclusion, as a parent, I will have a great impact on my daughter's life and on her
baby's. And I may still wish that she had made different choices. But by supporting my
daughter, making sure she gets good prenatal care, and listening as she shares her fears and
anxieties, so that I may find that I am a better father in the long run.
