Technological innovations like the Internet of Things, cloud computing, mobility, and smart buildings can help detect and prevent Legionella by centralizing data, enabling collaboration, and providing real-time notifications. Sensors can monitor water systems and generate data that is analyzed to detect Legionella and proactively notify stakeholders. This allows issues to be addressed quickly before they become problems. Standardized smart checklists integrated with building information modeling (BIM) and data APIs further improve efficiency, compliance, and decision making for Legionella prevention.

Editor's Notes
We will discuss how technological innovation can help pest control enterprises in prevention and detection of Legionella.
How technology industry helps to detect and prevent legionella? There are generic and known solutions. Innovative and emerging technologies. We will see concepts and technologies related to the solutions and services developed by VISOPHY.
Technological innovation should focus on three key points, in which companies face Legionella control and how they affect management processes and business enterprises.
These three points are: collect data, analyze them, and make decisions based on information taken.
Let's focus first on gathering data in installation inspections.
The importance that data collected are reliable and quality should be highlighted, and how flows into business processes to measure performance and productivity of our workforce team.
One of the most important challenges for Legionella companies is to face the management of large amount of information from different sources and different types, in different phases of prevention , maintenance and certification and is also distributed in different departments.
One of the concepts is that information has to be centralized and this centralization today in IT technology has a name: cloud computing. Many companies have not even begun to consider this and should do so, because if we don’t start with this point we can’t continue with the rest of points we will see in next slides.
Why is so important and necessary? Because one key success factor in business today is collaboration (B2B, B2C, B2A). Our technological workspace must be a collaborative environment and if there are no centralized information, we can even not start. If we have no information centralized on the cloud, if we have no collaboration, if we are not able to obtain cost savings… Our business may be at a disadvantage compared to competition. We know that the challenge of centralized information on the cloud causes considerable controversy in business, information where it is, who has it , etc. But it is the pillar technology for the rest of solutions.
The work is always done in mobility scenarios, both the technical fieldwork staff, the operations manager, directive and management people, are in touch, always connected with mobile devices and especially when taking decisions or searching information. Mobile phone has become, or rather mobility scenarios, in the basic way of daily work. It is unquestionable since everybody carries a smartphone when just two or three years ago it was unthinkable. We must harness of the power of computation, communication and connection we have in the palm of our hands.
One of the features we will provide with the inclusion of this technology is that the information is reliable. If information collection is not done correctly, technology will not do it correct. But, for example, we can perform effectively everything related to take times, dates of entry, exit, pause, when an operation is performed and who is the responsible .We can measure the duration of a particular operation in the maintenance of a cooling tower, for example cleaning or disinfection. There will be companies that invest more or less time but we can detect a bad practice or wich is more efficient. All this process of taking information, is technologically super simple and it's unthinkable that companies do not have it. Mobility Solutions is not a challenge is a requirement.
This is not a cost for your Enterprise. Is a Cost Saving Solution. A key success factor for a more productive digital Enterprise.
Another key point, for us the most important, which will be present in all the presentation: COLLABORATION. Nowadays companies can not work in isolation. It is not something we say. It is a reality. There is a demand and an evolution for services business and, one case are companies of prevention and control of Legionella. We really propose a scenario where companies, people, workforce team, laboratories, customers, public administration, collaborate.Customers must be the center of this scenario. There must be transparency in business process.Companies have to earn their customer confidence by the way they work.Increasingly, there are new figures, such as facilities services that integrate heterogeneous service companies, and obviously the public administration We could go on, insurance companies, etc…
Ultimately our scenario is collaborative and our space should be too.
One of the most important concepts, is BIM.
BIM is a standard format of information that is the pillar for collaborative work in building, instalation and maintenance enterprises. It is a boom in many sectors. It’s becoming a revolution in European countries and worldwide. For example, one of the requirements of public administration in the UK, would be that instalations must be validated digitally since october 2016.Within 2 or 3 years BIM will not be an option, will be a requirement. Why this impact? BIM is not a criterion that says how good a business is, instead of having classified information in their own way, there should be a common approach.
In addition, it is an open international format. And how BIM affects companies of control and prevention of Legionella? At the end, when there is an outbreak or when prevention is addressed, it is not known where are the facilities, features, documentation. Bim can consolidate and centralize all this information.
Finally, the way of work, will be very different from what we do today, specially in Spain.
The new way of work is social and collaborative.
Another technology that will be success key factor, in enterprises of control and prevention of Legionella is the internet of things. (IoT) The IoT will have even a greater impact in our lifes and in our workspaces, that mobile technology. The IoT means that whatever you see in reality may have an intelligence and has an internet communication.
This technology already exists but the application is important, above all, that application takes into companies Legionella. The telemetry will be applied in legislation of prevention and control of Legionella. But the idea is not only read values or do measurements automatically, but also provide intelligence to the assets of our installations. It is very important for enterprises understand, that not only must do maintenance of instalation based in legislation, but offer proactive and real time maintenance. We can debate whether a concrete task of maintenance is three of six months periodically, but if we have a technology that allows us to make a real-time monitoring, why not use it? There is not debate about that? Why? Furthermore, in the case of Legionella, which affects public health, obviously should be a requirement.
The IoT applied massively leads to technology of SMART BUILDING. In the hotel and tourism sector are high demanded, especially in the measurement of energy savings and control of all asset and instalations. Customers are not going to settle for seeing a certificate attesting to compliance with rules.
Sectors, not just the field of Legionella and protection and pest control, should not be based solely on regulations, but in the end we must use technology to give customers a service to make them feel calm and safe.
And that is achieved with this type of technology that allows continuous monitoring.
The services companies, that must certificate an instalation base in a legal regulation requirement. The maintenance of instalations and assets is traslated in a model of checklist, a series of tasks that a technician, a person, an institution or a laboratory must do, and then determine wich is the result of prevention of Legionella.
In VISOPHY we create a new concept SMART CHECKLIST, traslated in the differents apps we developed. But what is a SMART CHECKLIST?
Checklists can’t merely be a paper, as they are used by many companies.
A paper have not traceability, nobody knows who collect information, dates are unavailable or incorrect.
Information is not reliable.
But it can be worse, if a task has to be repeated several times. There is no way to reflect this.
The origin of measure may be a technician, telemetry, a customer, a lab certification ?
SMART CHECKLIST is a software model checklist where a technician or more, from mobility devices, can enter tasks and measurements.
Measurements can be taken from instalations automatically with the application of IoT solutions.
Laboratories may enter directly, or send the results, to the collaborative system, instead of having to manually enter our management staff.
SMART CHECKLIST reflect the responsibility of preventive or corrective actions or tasks, and who and when finally do it.
Process of inspection, maintenance and certification are very bureaucratic and not profitable for companies. SMART CHECKLIST help in this problem.
From VISOPHY our goal is, through software technology, make these business processes easier and more productive for companies in the industry of control and prevention of Legionella.
Systems, installations, buildings, enterprises, people, must be proactive.
We transfer business models and process management, as we have discussed throughout this presentation, in a software solution.
So this must be proactive too. The solution must be intelligent, so it can promote proactivity in all agents in a collaborative scenario. For example, if we have a level meter chlorine or pH in a system, It can take an automatic measurement and send an alert to my phone or smartwatch.
That's something very simple but today the companies have not yet implemented it. Notifications and alerts, are an important part for taking decisions quickly, in seconds or minutes, instead of hours or days.
Another interesting feature that companies of control and prevention of Legionella face is diversity of regulations.
It is therefore important that when you run a technical inspection or maintenance you know what checklist model or kind of model rules must being applied. You must identify the type of standards that can be a national law, a state law or European laws, etc.
We note two types of companies, those that only meet the standards, and others which do not stay there and seek improvements beyond the dictates of the standards.
That is, we understand that legislation should establish minimum but depending on the company checklist marked by these regulations should be improved if your technical department allows it.
In short, the scenario we move towards is what we see in the picture. Market trends to a scenario of intelligent buildings, where collaborative people with mobility devices work with standard models and store information in a central repository on the cloud.
In process of taking data we have seen the following technologies:Cloud computing. Centralized information.Mobility.Smart Buildings.Smart Checklists that lead us to Smart Services.Open API so we can integrate introduction directly to our management system software.
Ok. We have our data centralized, with mobile devices collecting data, we comply legal requirements, we are a productive and smart enterprise, which is the next step?
What can we do with data in a cloud centralized database?
We can analyze, work with data, and get business intelligence, information with additional value.Technologies that make this posible is outside the scope of this presentation. Some of these technologies are:-Data visualization.-Predictive Algorithms-Machine Learning -Big Data-AIIf this information is under regulation of public administration, why does not reach society in a global way ?
So enterprises get a tool for fighting Legionella, and society gets true information of the evolution of this disease.
But at the end, companies need to be aware that not only have to collect information, perform services, issue certificates, enforce regulations.
Legionella is a public health problem and if we are managing a company that fights Legionella bacterium, you sure knows that it can cause great social alarm.
It is necessary that you see information at high level, so you may take fast decisions, and all because of business intelligence technology.
Our solutions is based on Microsoft PowerBI technology, that can de accessed from everywhere and at everytime, including from mobile devices.
The idea behind all this, is that information must be visible not only for within then company.
This information must be transparent to customers and the different actors involved in control and prevention of Legionella, in a collaborative scenario we move towards.
Another interesting thing that can be applied in daily management of enterprises of control and prevention of Legionella is mapping technology.
It seems quite incredible that mapping technology has evolved so much, and it is not being applied. And i'm not referring only to Google maps, and Street View solutions.
CartoDB is an spanish provider of technology maps and is working with first level international companies.
It is very important to start using mapping technology in our service management and prevention of Legionella. If we don’t get an analysis, and even if you have that analysis, but you can’t manipulate it, or interact and display it in an agile way, you are losing functionality and value of what you do.
Where we actually see maps? We see maps in summaries. Where can we see a map of Legionella info in Spain? That information is not openly accesible.
For example, Germany has a map of incidence of Legionella whose data are completely open, everybody can download and integrate this information with your mapping technology, for your own management.
This must be a requirement for public administration.
Why that does not happen in Spain?
Companies focus on compliance of legal regulations and nothing else. They don´t focus on how they can get a powerful information tool, that everyday can be more authentic and effective.
Companies of control and prevention of Legionella have to start thinking that this kind of mapping technology can be applied to their busines and bet on it.
Although they seem very futuristic, holograms and VR are totally real nowadays.
The picture shows an example of the stage at which we move.Trimble is a company that uses Microsoft Hololens technology in a solution that give us the posibility of see our installation, buildings in augmented reality holografic way.
An example, the director of a hotel, or hotel chain, could see on his desk a hologram and manage incidents, monitoring systems, facilities, assets, etc.
All these developments mean that customer will not buy a certificate if he can buy a quality of service and an added value. And this is a mindset to be achieved.
In analisys process we have seen the following technologies:MapsBusiness IntelligenceAnalysis DescriptiveAnalysis PredictiveAnalysis PrescriptiveLet's focus now in the action phase.
What kind of solutions are we going to see?
Once we have all information centralized and all analysis and business intelligence available anytime and anywhere, decision making will be much easier and quicker.
All agents of collaborative workspace scenario will have access to information. Not only on a pull-type Access. Now the information can return to you, in a push-way. Push notifications, with alerts, interactive, with validating questions to make decisions, give you boost the speed of your actions.Smart proactive Buildings.Smart proactive Systems.Smart proactive Assets.
Smart proactive Enterprises.
Smart proactive Persons.A proactive collaborative management system. All information flows quickly and in a natural and transparent way.
We have the business intelligence layer. A tool to make decisions, take actions quickly and earlier than ever. And remember, this intelligence is shared. We have access not only to it, all members of the collaborative workspace.Anytime, anywhere at any device. In prevetion and detection of legionella, time is critical.
If we combine all information we actually have with maps visualization, companies will improve decision making.Boost your productivity, and your team and colaborators productivity.
These technological innovations and concepts are already being implemented at other countries. They are improving decision making, which is essential in control of Legionella. Increased transparency, trust and customer being the protagonist of the technological ecosystem. We must be able to transmit customer confidence through the collaboration workspace and transparency access to information.
We are not independent companies, we will have to collaborate digitally with other companies.
The distinction between companies is very important. All these concepts and technologies conform an important part of the VISION of VISOPHY.Some companies connect to our visión, perhaps others don´t.But clearly the application of these solutions on the market will distinguish companies that use them than others that don’t.
Finally, at VISOPHY we are working in these three points to help businesses and companies fight Legionella everyday, and be more efficient and productive.
