The document summarizes a student team project report about a traffic problem on the Florida Institute of Technology campus. It describes heavy traffic that occurs each day when students cross University Boulevard between classes. Some students cross the road dangerously on skateboards or bikes without looking for cars. The team researched potential solutions like installing traffic lights, building a bridge, or hiring more security officers. Through interviews with campus officials, they found traffic lights were not feasible and there were too few security officers. The recommended solution was to build a pedestrian bridge, as it was found to be the safest, most affordable option.

Introduction
In recent times, there has been a steady rise in the number of students who enroll at Washington State University (WSU). The growing population of the university, together with outstanding teaching services, has cemented its stature in the region. Because of this, the rising student population needs adequate parking for students who live off campus and do not always have access to bus routes. The problem regarding the increasing population has been witnessed in the parking section of the WSU Pullman campus. Notably, students and staff who own vehicles find it difficult to access the university’s parking lots due to overcrowding and parking rates. In essence, this has inconvenienced students who access the institution, and it has crippled the efficiency of parking services and revenue collection in the university. Since 2015 the parking trend has kept growing at more than 7% per year (news.wsu) and it is supposed to increase again within the 2020-2021 school year.
The parking problem has led to the increase of parking fees for vehicles that access the institution. Ideally, transportation services in the institution depend on funds generated from parking permit fees and fines to conduct maintenance and expansion since no vote head is allocated to such expenditure under tuition (Chan, Chau, & Chan, 2012). Markedly, an increase in the parking permit rates in the institution would strain the finances of students, which would affect the reputation of the university. In response, the institution has appointed the WSU Parking and Transportations Taskforce to investigate the issue and proffer solutions to the problem. Therefore, the parking crisis would be resolved through the development of practical recommendations from the task forces and by securing the full backing of the institution’s administration.
Methods
The main aim of the WSU Parking and Transportation Taskforce is to develop practical recommendations that would solve the parking problem and enhance the satisfaction of students. Therefore, the task force engaged willing students to provide their views on the parking problems in the institution and ways through which the setbacks could be handled. Besides, they asked a majority of students to submit emails of their views for further comparison to draw practical recommendations that would satisfy all the parties in the institution. Furthermore, the task force sought expert opinion from renowned structural engineers and planners on efficient ways of expanding the parking space in the institution to address the parking crisis. In essence, the meeting was essential as it helped provide the taskforce with viable information that would improve the chances of resolving the problem successfully.
The task force analyzed recommendations of the students while emphasizing those that were possible to implement. Moreover, they evaluated the proposals using views from members of the taskforce and professionals to ensure that they did n ...

As an international student from Kuwait, this is my second semester in the university; the excitement of the first semester is over. I was very excited last semester when I joined. The semester was all about learning and discovering new things about it and also about California. However there are a lot of challenges in every school, country and in every aspect of life. Parking is going to be the biggest challenge in an undergraduates life because of the lack of parking space provided.
Parking spaces provided by universities are often not enough for students. Parking is a nightmare in the school's compound. We pay an amount of money per semester to park our cars, yet the only problem is that it is not available. Either too many students drive to school or the provided parking is not enough. In my university we are provided with three buildings for parking, yet it isn't enough.
Parking may sound very irrelevant back in Kuwait but then here it is a basic life necessity. I have to get to school an hour or two before every class to be able to find a parking and arrive early to class. Unfortunately, the problem is faced by many students and not me alone. Thus, it is difficult to find a spot to park your car once you leave the school grounds. For example, I am always in a dilemma when I forget something in my residence. For instance, on Tuesday I left some researching materials that I was using for my assignment at my residence. I never drove back home, since I had a class at 2 p.m. and by going back this would relinquish me off my parking space. I had to stay at California State University, Fullerton, without the research materials that I needed until my classes were over. Usually, the secret of survival and parking problems for students like me is to get to school on time and get to school very early so as to get parking. The other alternative is for some students who wait near the elevator for other random students and ask to take care of their car while they are in class, however; I cannot trust people I do not know. The reason is that I do not know who those people are, it’s not only risky but also dangerous and risky. They could be serial killers or thugs or just people with a personality problem.
Parking at the University may be unswervingly influenced by scheduling of classes. Parking demand is very high on Mondays all through to Thursdays, from roughly 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The larger issue on campus may be the high number of traffic hours. I have heard the faculty members and students agreeing that parking has gotten enormously worse in the recent years. Students may also be contributing to the parking issue. A while ago, I saw a parking attendant issue three tickets to some students vehicles that were parked in the ‘faculty’ parking lot. I acknowledge having parked many times in the faculty parking lot earlier, but by then I never knew that it w.

Traffic enforcers play a vital role to maintain public order and safety in our roads. The aim of enforcement was to prevent the occurrence of road traffic violations by means of control and punitive sanctions. This study was conducted to know the lived experiences of traffic enforcers in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental. It is a phenomenological study where the researchers made an interview guide questions to gather data on the traffic enforcers experiences. The study was conducted for the randomly selected traffic enforcers in Ozamiz City. Moreover, there were seven (7) traffic enforcers purposely selected to be part of the respondents of the research study. The respondent was selected with the criteria where he/she is a traffic enforcer and must have an experience at least 2 years. There were five (5) themes identified in the study namely Adversity in the fulfilment of duties, Encountering Harassment, Resistance, and Threats from the Motorists, Seeking Police Assistance in responding Aggressive Motorists, Responding with Calmness, Patience, and Respect to the Motorist, and Obedience to Traffic Rules. Based on the findings of the study, it shows that majority of the traffic enforcer’s encountered harassment, resistance and threats from the motorists. Some motorists are unapproachable, aggressive and too arrogant violators that still insist that they did not commit any traffic violations. It was recommended that the traffic enforcers of Ozamiz City may continue to show calm, patience and respect towards handling the rude behaviour of a certain motorist who violates the traffic law. Moreover, traffic enforcers encouraged motorists to always follow the traffic laws to avoid and lessen the accidents on the road and have a smooth flow of the traffic because if every motorist is disciplined, it can reduced the workload of the traffic enforcers and everyone can benefit to it.

Introduction
The advantages of speed humps are clear. we need them in some neighborhoods to slow down traffic. If used correctly, they are intended to easily slow vehicles down and potentially cause fewer accidents. Despite this, there are many claims that they actually cause more accidents as well being damaging to vehicles and people and causing greater issues. One problem in the community is drivers speeding; therefore, city council should take a look at the issue and install speedbumps. The main counter argument to this proposal is Speedbumps will mess up vehicles suspension, but the proposed solution will be more effective because it will slow down traffic, protect our playing children, and build the neighborhood repour .Problem
The main cause of speeding in the neighborhood is people in a rush to get home as a result of extended traffic on freeways Once they make it to the neighborhood everyone wants to rush through the last minutes of travel. However impatience and lack of respect is a much larger source of the problem. According to the (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), "In the United States in 2017 speeding caused the death of 9,717 people." When drivers choose not to abide by speed laws, especially in residential areas, they put their own communities lives at risk. This includes children, pedestrians, bicyclists, other drivers, and pets Be the change you want to see by ensuring you abide by speed limits and encourage your family members to do the same. Residential neighborhoods should be family-friendly areas, which should also be free from life-threatening behaviors. Speeding drivers will make front yards dangerous places for children to play and no one should want to be responsible for that outcome.
Speeding is a preventable cause of accidents, the reason speed limits exist are to try to keep everyone on the road safe. A study conducted in Michigan by Richard Beaubien and published by the Institute of Transportation Engineers showed that placing stop signs along a roadway increased driver speeds, rather than decreasing them, Lowering the speed limit below typical roadway safety standards is also ineffective because most drivers travel at a speed they deem typical for the roadway conditions, rather than constantly checking their speedometer against speed limit signs. Based on this information it can be said that the normal ways we know to reduce the speeding on our neighborhoods are more likely not to work as we expect. Research and innovation are key to solving the problem permanently
Solution
I feel a great solution is to institute a neighborhood traffic calming program that emphasizes community involvement and combines education and enforcement with engineering techniques such as speed humps. Studies and enforcement data history indicate that most speeding on local roads is done by drivers who live in the same neighborhoods, so a commu ...

Develop a 5- to 6-slide PowerPoint presentation for a staff meet.docxbradburgess22840
Develop a 5- to 6-slide PowerPoint presentation for a staff meeting that addresses the following:
Identify your selected transition of care. ------" Transitions of care” refer to the movement of patients between health care practitioners, settings, and home as their condition and care need change. For example, a patient might receive care from a primary care physician or specialist in an outpatient setting, then transition to a hospital physician and nursing team during an inpatient admission before moving on to yet another care team at a skilled nursing facility. Finally, the patient might return home, where he or she may receive care from a visiting nurse or support from a family member or friend.
Explain how you, as a nurse leader, along with your healthcare team, would apply systems thinking when providing a transition of care aligned with the IHI Quadruple Aim framework in order to improve it. Explain what the fourth aim in your strategy would be and why.
These are the four areas:
Experience of care
Population health
Per capita cost
Care team well-being
Describe the key stakeholders that might be involved in this transition of care and how you would engage and influence them to improve the transition of care processes.
Explain how systems thinking would inform your improvement plan for your transition of care.

Evaluation of strategic choices is important. The methods for selecting strategic alternatives help leaders organize significant issues to support decision making. However, it is important that the techniques do not make the decision. Rather, leaders should use the techniques to reveal the inherent situation and to organize their thought processes. This assessment provides you with an opportunity to evaluate and apply some of the techniques for successful strategy development and implementation.
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:
Competency 1: Evaluate qualities and skills that promote effective leadership within health care organizations.
Evaluate the leadership qualities and skills that will be most important to successfully implementing a strategic plan and sustaining strategic direction.
Competency 2: Apply strategies to lead high-performing health care teams to meet organizational quality and safety goals.
Develop strategic goal statements and outcomes that support the achievement of specific quality and safety improvements for a care setting.
Justify the relevance of proposed strategic goals and outcomes in relation to the mission, vision, and values of a care setting.
Competency 3: Apply cultural, ethical, and regulatory considerations to leadership decision making.
Analyze the extent to which strategic goals and outcomes address the use of technology and the ethical, cultural, and regulatory environments.
Competency 4: Integrate leadership and health care theories into the role of the nurse leader.

Cost and access to care continue to be main concerns for patients and providers. As technology improves our ability to care for and improve outcomes in patients with chronic and complex illnesses, questions of cost and access become increasingly important. As a master’s-prepared nurse, you must be able to develop policies that will ensure the delivery of care that is effective and can be provided in an ethical and equitable manner.

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:
Competency 1: Design evidence-based advanced nursing care for achieving high-quality population outcomes.
Propose a policy and guidelines that will lead to improved outcomes and quality of care for a specific issue in a target population.
Competency 2: Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of interprofessional interventions in achieving desired population health outcomes.
Analyze the potential for an interprofessional approach to implementing a proposed policy to increase the efficiency or effectiveness of the care setting to achieve high quality outcomes.
Competency 3: Analyze population health outcomes in terms of their implications for health policy advocacy.
Advocate the need for a proposed policy in the context of current outcomes and quality of care for a specific issue in a target population.
Competency 4: Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, in an appropriate form and style, consistent with organizational, professional, and scholarly standards.
Communicate proposal in a professional and persuasive manner, writing content clearly and logically with correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Integrate relevant sources to support assertions, correctly formatting citations and references using APA style.
CONTEXT:
As a master's-prepared nurse, you have a valuable viewpoint and voice with which to advocate for policy developments. As a nurse leader and health care practitioner, often on the front lines of helping individuals and populations, you are able to articulate and advocate for the patient more than any other professional group in health care. This is especially true of populations that may be underserved, underrepresented, or are otherwise lacking a voice. By advocating for and developing policies, you are able to help drive improvements in outcomes for specific populations. The policies you advocate for could be internal ones (just within a specific department or health care setting) that ensure quality care and compliance. Or they could be external policies (local, st.

Develop a 5–10-year strategic plan for achieving specific health.docxbradburgess22840
Develop a 5–10-year strategic plan for achieving specific health care quality and safety improvements, based on the analysis you completed in Assessment 1. Use either an AI approach or your SWOT analysis and a chosen strategic planning model.
Note:
Each assessment in this course builds on the work you completed in the previous assessment. Therefore, you must complete the assessments in this course in the order in which they are presented.

Explain how relevant leadership and health care theories will be used to help achieve proposed strategic goals and objectives.
Competency 5: Communicate with stakeholders and constituencies to build collaborative partnerships and create inclusive work environments.
Communicate analyses clearly and in a way that demonstrates professionalism and respect for stakeholders and colleagues.
Integrate relevant and credible sources of evidence to support assertions, correctly formatting citations and references using APA style.

Develop a 2–4-page proposal for a policy that should help to imp.docxbradburgess22840
Develop a 2–4-page proposal for a policy that should help to improve health care and outcomes for your target population.
Note
: Each assessment in this course builds on the work you completed in the previous assessment. Therefore, you must complete the assessments in this course in the order in which they are presented.
Develop a 10- to 12- slide PowerPoint Presentation designed for .docxbradburgess22840
Develop a 10- to 12- slide PowerPoint Presentation designed for training the staff at a local high school. The PowerPoint Presentation should focus on strategies that promote communication skills among adolescents.
Students are encouraged to approach the assignment creatively, adding graphics, visuals, charts and/or graphs to their work. Slides should be designed to address the selected topic clearly and concisely. Each slide should be developed with professional presentation style (e.g., bulleted items in brief statements rather than complete sentences). Notes should complement the slides and provide details useful to the speaker if an oral presentation were to be given.
Creating the PowerPoint Presentation
The PowerPoint Presentation:
Must be 10 to 12 slides, and formatted according to APA style as outlined by the Ashford Writing Center.
Must include a title slide with the following:
Title of the training
Student’s name
Course name and number
Instructor’s name
Date submitted
Must present a thesis statement regarding why social skills training would be appropriate for adolescents.
Must explain different types of communication (e.g., aggressive and assertive).
Must share four strategies on how adolescents could improve their communication skills.
Must create at least three hypothetical scenarios of problems that adolescents might encounter, including one that involves cultural/ethnic issues. The scenarios should show how adolescents could use improved communication skills to solve these problems.
Must develop conclusions that reiterate the opening thesis statement, include a summary of the social skills training discussed, and offer evidence of its effectiveness.
Must use at least four scholarly sources (in addition to the course text), including a minimum of two from the Ashford Online Library. References are to be provided as needed within the slides.
Must include a separate reference slide, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Despite the literature supporting technology use in schools as ben.docxbradburgess22840
Despite the literature supporting technology use in schools as beneficial for students, and despite the wide use of social technology, schools continue to be slow to change its integration in the classroom (Livingstone, 2012). It is imperative that teachers increase their use of technology in the classroom in order to prepare our K-12 students referred to as "digital natives," for the 21st century. Though many schools have technology available for use (Alger & Kopcha, 2008), barriers exist in incorporating technology into lesson plans, namely teacher reluctance (Keengwe, Onchwari, & Wachira, 2008). Teachers' hesitation in using technology more frequently is due to a number of factors, such as lack of time to learn new technology and incorporate it into lesson plans, beliefs around using technology in instruction, availability of working technology and technical support, comprehensive professional development, and a culture that promotes using new technology, self-efficacy, and teaching methods (Alger & Kopcha, 2008).
Literature Review
Self-Efficacy toward Technology
According to Bandura (1986) individuals possess a self-system that determines how much effort people will expend on any activity. Bandura also asserts that self-efficacy beliefs may be a strong predictor of related performance. Studies have shown a positive correlation between self-efficacy in technology and technology ability (Anderson & Maninger, 2007; Anderson, Grouulx, & Maninger, 2011). According to the technology acceptance model introduced by Davis (1989), there is a correlation between users' perceived ease of use and predicted adoption of technology. In his study investigating Moodles, Yeou (2016) found self-efficacy to be a critical factor in undergraduates' use of the technology tool. In a similar study investigating pre-service teachers, Albion (2001) found that self-efficacy was the most significant factor in predicting technology use. Pre-service and in-service teachers who possess high self-efficacy in regard to technology are more apt to use technology in the classroom because they are more confident in their ability. In their study investigating teachers' use of technology, Holden and Rada (2011) found that self-efficacy directly influenced individuals' ease of use and usability of technology.
Need for Technology Integration
With the adoption of the National Education Technology Plan (NETP), providing access to technology is no longer sufficient; the NETP stresses that schools are expected to ensure "all students understand how to use technologies as a tool to engage in creative, productive, lifelong learning" (p. 16 Herold, 2016). A key element in the plan is the need to move from passive to active use of technology. Often referred to as the "digital use and divide," a gap exists between learners who are using technology in active, creative ways to support their learning and those who predominantly use technology for passive content consumption.

Description of theNationalMilitary Strategy2018.docxbradburgess22840
Description of the
National
Military
Strategy
2018
The Joint Staff
1
Overview
The 2018 National Military Strategy (NMS) provides the
Joint Force a framework for protecting and advancing U.S.
national interests. Pursuant to statute, it reflects a
comprehensive review conducted by the Chairman with the
other members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the unified
combatant commanders.
As an overarching military strategic framework, this
strategy implements the substantial body of policy and
strategy direction provided in the 2017 National Security
Strategy, the 2018 National Defense Strategy (NDS), the
Defense Planning Guidance (DPG), and other documents.
The 2018 NMS provides the Chairman’s military advice for
how the Joint Force implements the defense objectives in
the NDS and the direction from the President and the
Secretary of Defense.
The 2018 NMS also reflects lessons learned from
implementing global integration over the last two years. The
strategy articulates a continuum of strategic direction to
frame global integration into three strategy horizons to meet
the challenges of the existing and future security
environment. Force employment addresses planning, force
management, and decisionmaking to fulfill the defense
objectives of the NDS. Force development adapts functions,
capabilities, and concepts to improve the current Joint
Force. Force design innovates to enable the Joint Force to
do what it does differently to retain a competitive advantage
against any adversary.
The vision of the Joint Force articulated in the 2018 NMS is
a Joint Force capable of defending the homeland and
projecting power globally, now and into the future.
2
Strategic Approach
From its global perspective, the NMS premises an adaptive
and innovative Joint Force capable of employing its
capabilities seamlessly across multiple regions and all
domains -- continuing the transition from a regional to a
global mindset and approach.
This strategy
anchors its
approach against a
set of clearly
identified security
trends outlined in
the NDS (see inset).
These trends,
especially those
posed by the
reemergence of
great power
competition with China and Russia, represent the most
difficult challenges facing the Joint Force. However, the full
scope of global integration must recognize uncertainty and
be vigilant for emerging threats to the security and interests
of the United States, its allies and partners. In a security
environment where the homeland is no longer a sanctuary
and every operating domain is contested, competitors and
adversaries will continue to operate across geographic
regions and span multiple domains to offset or erode Joint
Force advantages.
To achieve military advantage over competitors and
adversaries, the NMS introduces the notion of joint
combined arms, defined as the conduct of operational art
through the integration of joint capabilities.

Description: This is a 4 page paper about either a creative genius of your choosing (Thomas Edison? Einstein? Michelangelo? Beyonce? Lucille Ball?) or a creative business (DuPont, Corning, IDEO? Pixar?). You can either read a full biography or research the person or organization using several sources. The paper should include: Description and background of the person/organization, 2) why you chose him/her/it, 3) what this person/org achieved (briefly), 4) how he/she/it fuels their creativity (his or her own, or if a company, its workforce) and 5) include a self reflection. Knowing what they do, what are some things YOU DO to fuel your creativity? What else could you do going forward? . #4 and #5 are most important. At the end of the paper, summarize by listing at least ten to fifteen things that this individual did to fuel his/her/its creativity. Here are some examples:
Da Vinci kept journals and notebooks. He dissected eyes and other body parts. He learned many mediums - painting sculpting, etc.
Ian Flemming (author), designed golf courses in his spare time.
Steven Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob, had been a marine biology professor who had a keen interest in art and began drawing visual images for his student which he then began animating. He continuously worked on acquiring new skills. He watched old movies.
Beyonce learned dressmaking from her mom, who designed all of her early costumes. Her mom had sewn clothing for priests and nuns in exchange for Beyonce’s tuition.
Etsy has employee-led workshops where associates teach others their hobbies, and they regularly engage their shop owners in planning
The important thing about this project is that you learn and be able to share not just what they achieved, but what they did to nurture their creativity. You must include sources.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Explain the subject of the report:
Every day, a heavy traffic starts when the students travel from
the north side of the campus to the south side of the campus by
crossing University Boulevard. The traffic mostly happens
between the ten-minute break when students move to other
classes. At that specific time, heavy traffic begins, and cars
can’t move due to the enormous number of pedestrians crossing
the road, which causes traffic delays. The traffic affects
everyone who is on the road, either students or cars, because
they will be late for destinations they are trying to reach.
What makes the traffic worse is that some students
cross the road without checking cars while they are riding their
skateboards or bicycles. It is dangerous to cross the road
2. without paying attention because pedestrians might get hit by a
car. Even though cars must stop when pedestrians walk across
the road on the zebra crossing lines, students should yield
before they pass the road. This scenario tends to happen often
on campus especially during the ten-minute break; students who
ride skateboards and bicycles do not care about the drivers and
can cause an accident and can end up with a permanent injury.
Explain the purpose of the report:
The purpose of the report is to gather all the information and
data that was found in this project.
Provide background:
Every day, a traffic starts on University Boulevard, and it
causes traffic delays. It starts on the ten-minute break when
students transfer to other classes by crossing the road. What
makes this traffic worse is that some pedestrians cross the road
without looking for approaching cars. Several people that took
the survey said that they saw people got hit by a car because
they were not paying attention, so this problem must be taken
seriously. The team thought of some solutions to end this
problem. However, the group had a lack of knowledge of the
school's budget, which is a big problem. Without knowing the
school’s budget for this project, it is hard to think of a solution
because it might be too expensive for Florida Tech to afford it.
For that reason, a research must be done on the school's budget,
and what ideas they would support most.
Describe sources of information:
There were several types of sources of information for the
research, and they were: personal experiences, expert opinions,
and web pages. In the very beginning of the research, Mashal
made an appointment with Susan Meeler, the academic advisor
of the Civil Engineering department, to discuss with her about
the problem and if she has any solutions for the issue. Meleer
provided Mashal with a good amount of information and sources
that he refers to with the research, and she gave him some
suggestions and recommendations for the solutions. Meleer was
a good source of information as she had a good experience on
3. those kinds of issues.
Then, the team interviewed Frank Iannone, the director of the
security department, as an expert opinion. Mashal, Jonathan and
Maymi discussed with Frank about the research and the possible
solutions to solve the problem. Frank approved their work and
the solutions that they had for the issue. Also, Frank
recommended to focus on the bridge solution because it was
more sufficient and appropriate. In addition to this, Frank told
us that Florida Tech will not be able to install traffic lights
because the road is not the university's property; therefore, the
university will need to have permission from the Melbourne
City Office (MCO) to install traffic lights. Frank concluded the
conversation by saying that the bridge idea is the best idea for
this problem because it will maintain a smoother and safer
vehicle traffic flow. Also, it is cheap and sufficient.
Maymi Myint interviewed one of the security officers on
campus as an expert opinion. Maymi discussed with him about
the issue and the reasons behind the traffic jam. Then she
discussed with him about the possible solutions and he said that
some might work, and some might not work. The officer said
that they will not be able to regulate traffic every day because
there are only six security officers on and off campus. For the
given reason, it would be impossible to be on site every day to
regulate the traffic and control it unless if there were more
officers.
The team used web pages as sources of information to collect
data for the research. Maymi looked up for the costs of
installing traffic lights, hiring security officers, and
constructing a bridge. Prices were different for each solution,
traffic lights were the most expensive one, and the bridge was
the cheapest. Despite the fact that bridge idea was the cheapest
one, it was the most efficient and appropriate solution for this
problem. Also, the director of the security department
recommended to apply this solution as it was the best one of all
the solutions that the team had.
Indicate scope of the report:
4. The goal of the research is to end the traffic on University
Boulevard as soon as possible. This traffic did not only cause
traffic delays but also accidents. Finding the right solution for
this issue will lead to a safe and smooth vehicle traffic flow.
According to the survey, at least six people that took the survey
saw people getting hit by a car on University Boulevard, so it is
necessary to start working on this project as soon as possible
before it gets out of hand.
Summarize the most significant findings:
As mentioned before, Maymi Myint interviewed one of the
security officers on campus, officer Golembiowski. Maymi
recommended to him one of the solutions for the traffic jam and
he said it would be hard to apply due to the number of security
officers that works on and off campus, which is only six
officers. The team had no idea that only six officers works on
and off campus.
One of the solutions was to install traffic lights on
University Boulevard. However, it turned out that Florida Tech
will not be able to do that as University Boulevard road is not
the school’s property, according to the director of the security
department, Frank Iannone.
Briefly summarize your recommendations:
The directors of Florida Institute of Technology must focus on
this problem and work on it as soon as possible. This issue can
get bigger if they did not fix it on time, and more people might
get hit by vehicles. The team recommends to Florida Tech
directors to put this issue in their top priorities to fix due to its
importance. The team realize that there are not enough security
officers at this time to regulate traffic. However, the group
highly recommend that at least one security officer must be on
site when the traffic starts to regulate it until they find the
proper solution.
Explain the organization of the report:
Define key terms:
Melbourne City Office (MCO): Melbourne City Office is a local
5. government located in the city of Melbourne. Their job is to
improve the city and build what people need in their area.
Discussion
Traffic safety is important for pedestrians including
bikers, skateboarders, and other small vehicle users. In 2006,
5,987 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes in the United
States. A total of 5,900 traffic crashes has one or more
pedestrian fatalities (“National Highway Traffic…”, 2018).
Moreover, pedestrian safety is extremely critical at school and
collage crosswalk since main transportation for students on and
off campus in walking, riding a bike, and using a skateboard. In
Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), since the University
Boulevard crosswalk is the busiest one and produces heavy
traffic, small accidents tend to happen once in a while.
Therefore, in order to protect student’s safety and prevent
future accidents on campus, a proposal of installing traffic
lights, building a bridge, and hiring more campus security were
planned. Interviews with Mr. Golembiowski and Mr. Iannone
and a survey were conducted to accomplish the project. The
results of interviews and survey showed which solution has the
most potential for the project to be successful.
Traffic signals are the highest form of traffic control
and having a traffic signals in the intersection and signalized
crosswalks provide safer routes for the students (“Traffic
Signals”, 2019). Since the traffic lights will be installed,
pedestrian lights, and countdown timer modules will be
necessary in order to establish a complete traffic control. The
budget for all the traffic signal installment can be estimated as
minimum $251,190 to maximum $516,630 depending on the
quality of the product (“Traffic Signals”, 2019). Besides, school
6. has to pay for the electric bills and maintenance fee in the
future, which would be around $8000 per year (“Traffic
Signals”, 2019). The interviews about the traffic signal was
performed, and the director did not support the idea, but the
campus security officer did. Although traffic signals would
benefit the drivers’ time due to the traffic problem, more
disadvantages were learned. Firstly, the University Boulevard is
not FIT’s property but State’s property. Permission from the
Melbourne City Office will be required to proceed the project,
so less chances of success are predicted. Moreover, installing
traffic signals might cause more harm than good since the
pedestrians sometimes do not follow the rules. Pedestrians look
around and cross the road even though the pedestrian light is
red. If the students and cars do not cooperate in obeying the
laws, more issues could be experienced. Moreover, according to
the budget mentioned before, the cost of the project will be too
expensive for the school to approve it. According to the survey,
most students are not willing to donate money for the project;
therefore, the idea of installing traffic signals will be tough to
fulfil. Moreover, it will be hard to set the module timer since
only 10 minutes break is busy on the road. Most students will
complain about waiting for the traffic light to change, so
students will eventually cross the road no matter what the light
change or not, which would make this project useless.
Another solution to resolve the problem is building a
bridge across the road to connect the north to the south side of
the campus. Pedestrian bridges are useful in linking the
destinations at school, in a community, and on highways
(“Pedestrian Bridge…”, 2016). The director strongly approved
the bridge plan more than the traffic signals installation idea; he
admired the idea as soon as the pedestrian bridge was mentioned
in the conversation. Moreover, the cost of building a pedestrian
bridge can be calculated within a range from $150 to $250 per
square foot or $500 to $2000 per linear foot. Compared with the
cost with the previous solution, a pedestrian bridge might be
much affordable than the traffic signals. There will not be any
7. extra cost after the bridge is constructed: no electric bill, no
maintenance, or no repairment are needed. The pro of having a
bridge is that the safety of the students is more likely to be
protected, and accidents would barely occur on campus. In this
way, the problem of heavy traffic will be totally resolved, and it
will be convenient for the drivers around the area. Moreover,
most students chose the pedestrian bridge among other
solutions. The only downside for the bridge is wasting more
time by climbing upstairs and downstairs, which could be
normally finished in a few seconds by crossing the road.
Therefore, building a bridge produce more advantages than
disadvantages to solve the traffic problem on the University
Boulevard.
When a heavy traffic occurs, a campus officer
sometimes helps to clear up the traffic by stopping students, but
it only happens once in a while not every day. After the
interview with the campus officer, we noticed that school does
not have enough officers. There are only ten officers on campus
and off campus; moreover, they have to finish different duties
including patrolling the campus and dorms, checking the
parking lots, and so on. Therefore, hiring more campus security
officers is necessary to stay on the road full time to clear up the
traffic problem. The first step for to accomplish this solution,
job offers have to be posted online through job.com so that
people who are interested in the job will be able to apply.
However, since the road is the state’s property as mentioned
above, campus officers are not legally allowed to guide the
students. Instead, only Melbourne City Officers or traffic
controllers are permitted due to the law. The presence of traffic
controllers might be able to solve the traffic problems once the
city approves the project. The average salary of a traffic
controller is around $2,165 per year, and at least two people;
therefore, a total of $4,270 will cost the school every year.
Although it seems like the lowest-cost option, it might be
second most expensive through overtime. Accordingly, hiring
traffic controllers has the second most potential to succeed the
8. project.
While we were working on the project, we experience
some challenges, and we noticed that there were some
implications in carrying out the interviews and surveys.

Introduction
Every day, a huge traffic starts when the students travel from
the north side of the campus
to the south side by crossing University Boulevard road. It
mostly happens between the

using the road, which causes

This scenario tends to happen a lot in campus especially during

who ride skateboards and bicycles do not care about the drivers
can cause an accident which can
end up in a permanent injury. There are two possible solutions
that might reduce the traffic
between the ten-minute break: they are hiring at least two
officers, who will be on sight at that
specific time to regulate the traffic and installing traffic lights.
Al Marzooqi, Cruz, Myint 4
Proposed Tasks
Task 1: Hiring more security officers
One solution for the traffic jam is that the cooperation of the
security department between
14. the students and the drivers. Since the 10 minutes break after
class proceeds into a traffic
problem, cars and students can take turns under the guidance of
security officers. The plan is
two security officers will be on each side of the road; they will
give thirty seconds for the
students to cross the road and thirty seconds for the cars to
continue their trip. Moreover, one
more officer will stand by there to give a helping hand when in
need, and he will keep an eye on
the people who do not follow the officers’ guidelines. We
interviewed Mr. Golembiowski, who
is one of the security officers of FIT related to the traffic jam
problem. According to him, we
learned that there are only six officers working for both on
campus and off campus. In order to
resolve this issue, we need to hire at least three more security
officers who will handle the traffic
in the University Boulevard road. Therefore, we need to prepare
a job offer to post it on Job.com
so that people who would like to join can easily apply for job.
Task 2: Traffic light
Another solution to maintain vehicle traffic flow smoother and
safer is to install traffic
15. lights. It allows students and vehicles to use the utilize the road
alternately. Moreover, pedestrian
signs will be installed at each side of the road with a set of
countdown timer module. Pedestrians
would need to push a button to receive the walk signal; as a
result, traffic will stop, allowing
pedestrians to cross. Similarly, a don’t-walk signal will be
placed since it appears to prevent
pedestrians to cross and permits vehicles to continue. The time
limit for the signals should be
about thirty seconds each.

Team Project Guidelines: Steps to Writing the Final Team
Report
Sci/Tech Communication
Once you have completed your proposal, your next step is to
conduct research and prepare your report. The following is a
guide to help you follow through on your project proposal.
Following is a checklist of items to include in your final report:
Step 1: Conduct research and collect data.
Data collection includes the use of primary and secondary
19. sources:
Secondary Sources (for background and general information)
· Peer-reviewed, scholarly journals
· Journals/trade publications for educated lay
· Databases (e.g., government statistics)
· DO NOT use Wikipedia as a source
Primary Sources
· Surveys
· Interviews
· Original documents (government documents, reports, budgets)
· Observation (with documentation)
Step 2: Analyze and synthesize the data and document the need
by providing supporting evidence.
Your paper requires substantial background research and
documentation. Using the data you have collected, include a
literature review, an overview of research that is related to the
topic. This “lit review” indicates the need (or significance) in
that it shows the context for your research, how it contributes to
existing work, and points to any gaps in other studies. This
literature review often precedes your statement of purpose.
In your team projects, you can document the need in the
following ways: surveys and/or interviews, journal articles, and
systematic/methodical observation.
Step 3: Propose a solution.
Recommend a course of action. What are possible methods of
resolving the problem? What are the advantages and
disadvantages of a particular course of action? Is the solution
feasible? Is it practical?
Step 4: Draft the report.
Papers should include the following three specific elements:
· What? (clear definition of topic and purpose)
· Why? (need, answers the “so what” question and )
20. · How? (materials and methods)
Step 5: Proofread/Revise/Edit.
Each member of your group should proofread and make
necessary revisions and editions to the document before
submission.
Team Project Checklist
Submit your report with the names of all team members printed
on the title page or in the heading. Submit the paper to Canvas
and in hard copy form.
Format:
Body: Use headings in the body, double space the text, and
indent paragraphs. Place no extra spaces between paragraphs;
the exception is three spaces when followed by a heading. Page
numbers should be in the upper right header. Do not include
tables and graphs in the text; all visuals should be placed in the
appendix.
Citations: APA Style or MLA style.
When possible, avoid direct quotes, instead, use a paraphrase
and citation. However, when quotes are necessary, use a “lead”
to a direct quote: For example, NOT: “By providing the
journalistic value of objectivity and balance, the media actually
create a biased view of climate change” (Smith & Jones, 1989,
p. 34). YES: According to communication researchers, “By
providing the journalistic . . .” (Smith & Jones, p. 34). That is,
use transitions to lead into your quoted material.

Bring a jump/flash drive, but be sure to provide a
backup/contingency plan (e.g., save slides on your “U” drive
and send them to your email account as an attachment).
Things to remember for presenters:
1. Be professional and courteous.
2. Dress appropriately. (Attire to avoid: jeans, shorts, sneakers,
flip-flops, t-shirts. Appropriate: slacks, skirts, collared shirts.
Use an iron if necessary!)
24. 3. Be attentive – when you are not speaking, pay attention to the
speaker; do not be a distraction to the audience.
4. Be prepared.
5. Be clear. Speak up and speak clearly.
6. Be yourself. Relax. We all want you to do well.
Things to remember for audience members:
1. Be there! Attendance is important. An absence on a day you
are not presenting (or inattention to the presenter) will reflect
(negatively) on your presentation grade.
2. Let the speakers know if you cannot hear/understand them.
3. Ask questions. Show interest in your fellow students'
presentations.
4. Treat all presenters with respect.
