What is a team ?
A team is a group of individuals, all working together for a
common purpose. The individuals comprising a team ideally
should have common goals, common objectives and more or less
think on the same lines. Individuals who are not compatible with
each other can never form a team. They should have similar if not
the same interests, thought processes, attitude, perception and
likings.
Difference between Group and Team
A group is not necessarily a team. A group can have individuals
with varied interests, attitude as well as thought processes. It is not
necessary that the group members would have a common objective
or a common goal to achieve.
A team must have individuals with a common objective to achieve.
They should all work together and strive towards the achievement
of a common goal.
The four stages of team development are:
 Stage 1: Forming
 Stage 2: Storming
 Stage 3: Norming
 Stage 4: Performing
Teams at the stage of performing are self-controlling, practical, loyal as
well as productive. Focus is there on both performance as well as
production.
Key Aspects:
 Open Communication
 Respect
 Commitment
 Adaptability
1.Keep a marathon mentality
2. Set realistic expectations
3. Know what your team does
4. Find real motivators
5. Explain why
6. Develop independent workers
7. Recognise your employees' talents
8. Creativity and Innovation Are the Norms
9. Engages in Continuous Improvement
10. Focus on team culture
11. Be a Model
12.Keep your door open
13. Lead and Team will follow you
14. People Are the Joy and the Problem in Better
Teamwork
15. The Team Is Clear About Its Mission and Goals
16. Respectful Communication Is the Norm
17. Strong Sense of Group Commitment
18. Team Members Are Viewed As Unique People
19. Solves Teamwork Problems and Conflicts
20. Practices Participative Leadership
21. Makes High-Quality Decisions As a Team
At first, let’s understand, what do we understand by Academic
Development?
 Sometimes referred to as educational or professional development,
it involves academic and professional staff in planned activities to
enhance all dimensions of teaching, learning and moral
developments. To develop Academically, you have to develop your
skills spiritually, morally and intellectually.
 In much the same way that academic skills can be cultivated,
research also demonstrates that social and emotional competencies
can be nurtured and developed .The goal is to prepare youngsters
who among other things, are able to connect with others, make
responsible decisions, communicate, solve problems, think critically,
be resilient, persevere, and work in teams, many of the same skills
that that they are looking for in their workforce.
 While a range of language is used to describe this more
comprehensive approach to education, the Commission is using
social, emotional, and academic development because it emphasizes
the need for academics to fully integrate social, emotional, and
academic development.
WHY IT MATTERS
 A student’s ability to focus, manage emotions, and stay engaged, plays a large
role in his or her ability to perceive, process, and ultimately learn. Students
who can work collaboratively and communicate effectively are better able to
harness their academic knowledge to perform in now and in the workplace
later. At the same time, these competencies help young people build the
strong relationships that are such a big part of leading a fulfilling life.
WHAT IT TAKES
 The Commission’s charge is to explore how to make social, emotional, and
academic development part of the fabric of every school. But we know that
effective social, emotional, and academic development doesn’t happen on its
own—it requires dedicated commitment from everyone. Just as families and
communities foster social, emotional, and academic development, Our
schools and universities must play a role by incorporating explicit and
intentional instruction and rethinking design and culture. This demands an
education system that recognizes how social, emotional, and academic skills
and competencies are complementary, and addresses each of them with equal
fervor.
1.Safety Skills
2. Problem-solving and Critical Thinking Skills
3.Communication Skills
4.Team skills
5.Management Skills
6.Career Preparation
 Be Concentrated
 Be a Good Reader
 Be a Good Listener
 Be a Good Learner
 Have your Self Confidence
 Be Attentive Everytime
 Do Hard Work
 Be Focused for your Goal
 Trust Yourself
 Be Positive
