The workshop discussed strategies for increasing access to higher education and ensuring students are prepared. It focused on the interaction between high schools and universities, which has traditionally been limited. Improving this relationship is important to have more high school graduates attend postsecondary institutions. The discussion centered on cognitive skills that influence university readiness as well as non-cognitive "college knowledge" factors. The workshop examined what should be taught in high school, the role of parents and families, and how universities can support the transition to higher education.
