World of Illusion
Instrumental Introduction
Oh! I’m living in a world of illusions
Let’s go out and fight the confusion
Time’s to tight to spare a minute
So let’s go out and get right on with it
Oh! I am living in a world full of addictions
Looking to the future based on predictions
Searching for a world without pollution
AI, 5G and 4th Industrial Revolution
CHORUS: It’s now the time when all things are going wrong
The pandemic hit so we couldn’t carry on
We stayed home, safe, living in isolation
Which has now led to economic devastation
Dialogue: We now need to: ‘STEP UP, STEP FORWARD and STEP OUT’ X4
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Break: Keyboard, lead guitar, bass sax and drum solo
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh! I am living in a world full of collusion
Fake news, deception and confusion
Time is right to fix all Nations
So let’s go out and seek reconciliation
Oh! I’m living in a world needing new conclusions
In solidarity lets go find new solutions
A changing world on another mission
Embracing hope, love, new values and common vision _
CHORUS: It’s now the time when all things are going wrong
The pandemic hit so we couldn’t carry on
We stayed home, safe, living in isolation
Which has now led to economic devastation
Dialogue: We now need to: ‘STEP UP, STEP FORWARD and STEP OUT’ X4
Anthony Rippon
These songs and poems are a tribute to ……..
(To those special contributors over 40 years between 1979 – 2019)
To my God (Abba Father), the Holy Spirit who guides me, my dearest and special mother
Mary, earthly father who is now with Jesus in heaven, Len, my wife Aneza, sister Azzie with
daughter Candy, Abbey, Neville and son Simon in Canada, previous wife Berchia with son
Nihan, my children Alechia, Marique, husbands Bennie and Hendrik with granddaughters
Amalia and Mila. My brother Garry and wife Rhoda in New Zealand, Kelli Anne in Melbourne
Australia and Rudilyn and family in Johannesburg. My special sister Gill, her son Jammie who
has similar interests, daughter Nicki Lee and all past friends such as Smith Radingwana and
Wynne Spradbury in particular living in Tasmania, muso’s I connected with over the past
years either in person or virtually and finally Prof. Nic Lessing who guided, motivated and
inspired me along the way through most of my studies completed between 1987 and 2005.
God bless you all!!!
Finally, a special tribute to Paul Stennet a great classical guitarist and John Bosse an
awesome guitarist who loved playing the bass, both wonderful friends and musos who
passed away a while back and more recently Steve Fataar a well-known jazz guitarist and
singer.
Thinking of past bands, SURRIPFREYDING, TRAPP, THE RIFFS, DIM DEP, DOC & AFRICAN
BUSKERS, amongst other artists. Wow so exciting. Many muso’s making up our first music
contributions between 1975 (whilst in high school) and 1981 (whilst at Natal University). First
practicing at our house, in York Avenue, in our garage, whilst we were living in
Pietermaritzburg, to MiTH (Music in The Hills), Hilton in 2015.
Celebrating ‘timeless’ legendary World Music. Song melodies, music, and chord progressions
from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and adapted in the 2000’s
Legends include:
Martin Godfrey, Anthony Surian, Martin Dinger, John Bosse, Pierre Roux, Andre’ van Rooyen,
Trevor Cox, Paul Gilliver, Paul Goodwin, Dwyne Smit (Gene Rockwell’s son), Clinton
Girdharlall, Cebo Ngema, Vincent Mthethwa, Jerry Kunene, The Sagiya Band, members of
our Jazz Ensemble, The Dim Dep Choir, members of Durban’s Youth Orchestra and finally
Atlas Philani Duma a musician, author, playwright, theatre practitioner, teacher and fellow
visionary amongst others. Legends celebrating the memory of those good old days, the
‘blast from the past’ at MiTH and with Sagiya Records, Sagiya Publishers and Sagiya
Foundation.
Furthermore, these are ‘timeless’ songs composed in my youth and adapted during this
coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) period.
Lastly, thinking of all those South African, African and global street buskers,
who could not provide a living for themselves or their families during this
Lockdown 2020
Africa it’s your time!!!
