This document proposes the TCBL Café project to address the decline of sewing and garment assembly skills. The TCBL Café would function as a space where sewing experts provide guidance to help participants create their own garments from designer patterns and materials. This would benefit sewers by developing skills, designers by gaining visibility, and suppliers by accessing new customers. The cafés could vary activities from sewing to knitting to weaving. Hosts might include suppliers, non-profits, schools, or fab labs. The goals are to preserve territorial skills, attract new sewers, and potentially lead to networked local production and distribution of fabrics/kits.
