2. What is documentary? A documentary is information based that has evidence to support the facts. Documentary tries to attempt to document reality of a person, places or an event and usually have one narrator. This can be presented in either a film or TV program. These facts are normally based on scientific or educational topics.

3. What is Educating Essex? A documentary programme to give an insight into the day to day life of staff and students in a challenging mainstream secondary school in Essex. This included interviews to get an idea of both teachers and students and how they cope with behaviour and strategies to deal with it.

4. Voiceover Voiceover- Voiceovers were used throughout the documentary to tell the story or explain the scenario. Also facts were told about the school such as the results. In parts of the documentary the Deputy Head does voiceover, which expressing his thoughts on the school. The other voiceover is from a narrator. The voice overs and the music played on top of the scenes were non-diegetic.
