2. Images: The images on this fanzine have
been placed with a cut out effect around
them to give the effect of a scrap book which
I think represents the characteristics of the
genre very well because punk are
stereotypically messy and make do with what
they have.
Fonts: The fonts on here seem to be
handwritten in most places which again fits in
with the make do theme and the messy
stereotype but some of the logos have been
pasted on which have used bold, square
fonts.
Layout: The layout is very disorganized but I
think this is good again because of the
characteristics and stereotypes of punks and
it also helps to appeal to the target audience.
Language: The language they have used it
very suited to the target audience because
they have used slang words which suits to
the age of the audience and keeps up with
the modern language of that time.

3. Images: Again for this fanzine they have only
used one image in the centre of the page to
attract the eye and the interest of the target
audience, the image is not of high quality
because of the age of this fanzine.
Fonts: Most punk fanzines have a consistent
font throughout which is the handwritten font
because it is cheaper and it gives a good
effect and also reflects the messy punk genre.
Layout: Because this is the cover of the
fanzine they have created a modern and
professional layout. I think they have placed
the image in the middle of the page to catch
the eye of target audience.
Language: The language of this fanzine is
similar to the second example because they
have used simple and short sentences to give
the message of the article to the audience
quickly and clearly.

4. Images: This fanzine have only used one
large image which gives a simple and clear
theme to the page of this fanzine, it helps
to convey the message of the article
quickly and easily to the audience, they
have used a similar cut out magazine effect
to the first fanzine example which reflects
the punk genre very well.
Fonts: The fonts on this fanzine have all
been written in messy handwriting I think to
show the punk genre and the messy
characteristics. They have also used an
army stencil font at the top of the page.
Layout: There is not much content in this
fanzine to layout but they have created an
untidy looking page to create the messy
aspects of the genre and the fanzine itself.
Language: There is not a lot of text on this
fanzine but the text they have used is very
direct and written in short sentences.

6. My first idea consists of the common punk fanzines which were
brought out when the genre was at its peak, I want to recreate one of
these fanzine articles by doing the work manually to ensure that it
looks similar to the original fanzines which were also made manually, I
also think this reflects the genre well because punks were very strong
minded about doing things themselves and making do with what they
had, I also think this method would be easier to create because I can
change it easily and use a wide variety of different forms of media and
materials.
Within this idea I want to include stories that would have been
important in that time and use old images to really help to re-create
the original fanzines.
My second idea is similar to my first idea but I want to base it more on
modern punks and the pop punk genre, I also want to make sure that
this design looks more modern by creating it digitally with InDesign
and Photoshop to ensure that I am using modern methods and so
that the finished product looks modern and up to date.
This idea will include modern materials and digital materials including
digital editing programmes and band images which can be gathered
from the internet.

Layout: The layout for this idea is
very similar to the examples as I
have used different aspects of the
examples and incorporated them
into my design.
Images: I wanted to use black and
white images for this idea because
I want to re-create the style of the
old fanzines.
Fonts: For the headline I have
aimed to use a punk themed font
as well as the text font. To do this I
have ensured that the fonts look
sharp and also messy in order to
represent the punk genre.

Layout: I am aiming for a more modern punk fanzine
with this design so I have created a simple and more
modern layout to suit the young target audience.
Images: because of the more modern theme I have
decided to use pop punk bands for the choice of
images which I think is good because it would catch
the audiences eye.
Fonts: again while choosing the fonts I have made
sure that they are modern to fit in with the target
audience and the genre of the fanzine. I have looked
into using a big, bold font for the headline to draw
attention to the fanzine and I also think that a clear
and simple font makes it easier to read.
