This document provides information on good documentation practices (GDP) for pharmaceutical manufacturing. It discusses how documentation is crucial for quality assurance and aims to ensure manufacturing processes are carried out consistently as planned. It defines key terms like documents, records, data reliability and integrity. The document outlines good practices for documentation like contemporaneous recording, error correction procedures, and preventing issues like falsification. It provides examples of documentation deficiencies from inspections and consequences of poor practices like warning letters. Maintaining ALCOA principles of documentation - being Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original and Accurate - is emphasized. Case studies on meningitis and salmonella outbreaks show how documentation lapses can have severe public health impacts.

My business processes are deviant! What should I do about it?Marlon Dumas
This document discusses techniques for identifying and addressing deviant business processes. It defines deviance as processes that violate compliance rules, service level objectives, or cost targets. The document recommends a two-pronged approach of deviance mining and predictive monitoring. Deviance mining involves analyzing process event logs to discover patterns that distinguish normal and deviant cases, in order to explain the causes of deviance. Predictive monitoring uses the patterns to predict future deviance and generate alerts. Several case studies are described where organizations successfully applied these techniques to problems like late deliveries, faulty products, and software issues. The key takeaway is that organizations should quantify, analyze, monitor, and predict deviance to preempt problems in their business processes.
The document discusses EMR implementation in healthcare facilities. It outlines the typical steps to a successful EMR implementation including assessing readiness, selecting a system, training staff, and achieving meaningful use. It notes that the go-live period is often challenging, with excessive time spent implementing and practice disruptions. Scribes can help during implementation by assisting physicians with documentation. The benefits of scribes and experiences from different healthcare organizations are provided, highlighting both challenges and lessons learned from EMR implementations.
Presented by Bryan Baylis CSCP, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Consultant, Merck, USA and delivered during the 38th annual SAPICS 2016 at Sun City, South Africa.
In 2008 a Nepali region of over 250,000 people that made $141 per year, lived 36 hours by bus one-way from the capital and healthcare center of the country, were recovering from a 10 year civil war, and didn’t have access to a single healthcare provider. A unique partnership between a non-profit and the local Nepali Government was born and exists today as the Bayalpata Hospital in Achham, Nepal. Fast forward to 2015, Bayalpata Hospital has provided healthcare to over 220,000 patents free of charge. As part of a philanthropic initiative through Merck & Co. Inc. three Supply Chain Professionals made the trek to Achham, Nepal to redesign both the internal and external medical and surgical tools supply chains. The goal, to implement a reliable process to efficiently procure stock and deliver life-saving medicines to the patient. Join Bryan to learn how this successful implementation included creatively implementing basic supply chain principles while constantly taking into account the cultural differences that exist in such an environment.
1) Watergate Nursing Home is a 178-bed private facility in Washington D.C. that is experiencing organizational issues.
2) The new corporate supervisor, Ms. North, identified problems with the organizational structure, budget control, employee behavior, relationships between departments, and resident care during her two-week review.
3) Ms. North must now provide recommendations to improve organizational control and performance by restructuring management, controlling budgets, improving employee policies and relationships between departments, and expanding services for residents.
4 practical ways eh rs use real time analysis to help providers and patientsCureMD
This document discusses how electronic health records (EHRs) can use real-time analysis to benefit providers and patients. It outlines three main applications: 1) clinical decision support that alerts doctors to potential adverse events or high-risk patients; 2) improvements to clinical workflow through automated tasks and real-time financial reporting; and 3) coding support through claims scrubbing to identify errors before submission. Overall, real-time analysis in EHRs allows providers to access up-to-date patient data and make more informed care decisions.
This presentation describes a case study of an eTMF structure, setup, and implementation at a biotechnology company currently conducting a pivotal Phase 3 clinical study in 70 centers worldwide.

ViewShift: Hassle-free Dynamic Policy Enforcement for Every Data LakeWalaa Eldin Moustafa
Dynamic policy enforcement is becoming an increasingly important topic in today’s world where data privacy and compliance is a top priority for companies, individuals, and regulators alike. In these slides, we discuss how LinkedIn implements a powerful dynamic policy enforcement engine, called ViewShift, and integrates it within its data lake. We show the query engine architecture and how catalog implementations can automatically route table resolutions to compliance-enforcing SQL views. Such views have a set of very interesting properties: (1) They are auto-generated from declarative data annotations. (2) They respect user-level consent and preferences (3) They are context-aware, encoding a different set of transformations for different use cases (4) They are portable; while the SQL logic is only implemented in one SQL dialect, it is accessible in all engines.

Natural Language Processing (NLP), RAG and its applications .pptxfkyes25
1. In the realm of Natural Language Processing (NLP), knowledge-intensive tasks such as question answering, fact verification, and open-domain dialogue generation require the integration of vast and up-to-date information. Traditional neural models, though powerful, struggle with encoding all necessary knowledge within their parameters, leading to limitations in generalization and scalability. The paper "Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Knowledge-Intensive NLP Tasks" introduces RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), a novel framework that synergizes retrieval mechanisms with generative models, enhancing performance by dynamically incorporating external knowledge during inference.

1. TARGET PHARMACY: BACK
TAGGING PROCESS
Danielle Wade, Tenisha Jamison, Yvonne McLarty-Russel, Raven Morgan, and
Janae Logan
2. BUSINESS DOMAIN
• The business domain we decided upon is Target pharmacy’s back tagging process.
• The back tags allow for prescriptions in the pharmacy to be organized, located when
needed, and kept for auditing purposes.
• The prescriptions and back tagging process is also practiced for legal purposes.
Every prescription that is filled or kept in the pharmacy must have a hard copy for
the back tag to be placed upon and filed away.
• This process is very critical and must be executed every day but with the process
that Target has implemented right now it is very time consuming, inefficient and
susceptible to human errors if not executed correctly.
3. THE PROCESS
• We interviewed Christi Heys, who is the manager at Target Pharmacy
• We examined the back-tagging prescription process
• History of paper prescription documentation
• Legal processes involved
• How the pharmacy organized and tracked paper prescriptions for auditing purposes
• The “HELP” window in the EHR system
4. THE PROCESS
We examined training documents
which were found on the help
window of the previous EHR
system. This function provides step
by step training information to
employees on the back tagging
process.
