This document discusses innovative public library services that could benefit rural farmers. It conducted surveys of 150 farmers and 5 public libraries in West Bengal, India. The surveys found that farmers need information on weather, new crop varieties, farming techniques, best practices, government schemes, and market prices. However, the libraries were not adequately meeting these needs. The document proposes that libraries provide services like weather updates, information on seeds and techniques, advice from experts, and training to help farmers grow crops successfully and benefit their livelihoods and communities. Public libraries could play an important role in rural development if given more support and modern resources to fulfill information needs.
